I'd say Mowry Baden pieces (Pavilion, Rock and Shell; and Night is for Sleeping, Day is for Resting) are probably the most recognizable and discussed art installations in Victoria. So there is that.

This was awarded, by the way. Not to exceed $125,000. There will be a multi-coloured steel thingy on the wall facing Johnson St., about 2 storeys tall.

I am a big supporter of the arts, but even I think this is a colossal waste of taxpayer dollars.

I would be if it was a throw-away thing, but amortize it over 15 years and it looks alright to me. You'll see it right when you come out of Odeon Alley.

What ever happened to the plan to have art made from sections of the Johnson Street Bridge that were saved for that purpose?

Still in the plan somewhere.

It's lipstick on a pig. Michelangelo couldn't disguise the fact that this is a parking garage.

Susan Point is not Picasso but she is right up there among local artists. I will say this is a safe bet...non controversial, but this is Victoria after all. But it will look great.

Ya, I think you'll look at it, and say ya, that pleases me. It's good because it's right there more or less in front of you as you cross the mid-block crosswalk there.

I really like it. Parkades are necessary but usually very drab and life-sucking. Getting artists from the region to beautify it for minimal costs is well worth it.
The only way to support public art pieces is through taxpayer dollars or large donations, and many of us don't have the funds for the latter.

I reiterate: I support public art; I just think this money could be spent better in another location. I can almost guarantee that most people will never even notice it.

Can't we just paint the dang facade with some non bland colours?
Ya, that might have been a good idea when they painted it a few months back.
