I think what downtown needs is more family-friendly entertainment venues.  Bowling, anyone?

Large ferris wheel.

Any venue that doubles as a tourist attraction. We need more! Bowling is good for locals, but not tourists.

I guess the zipline proposal never went anywhere.

We need to team up. The zipline can terminate at the top of the wheel.

Oh that's how you wind up the ferris wheel!

No Ferris Wheel but Ferris' buck a shuck oysters are pretty family friendly.

How about a harbour zipline from the patio beside the Tourist Info all the way across to the Commonwealth Games sign. :)

Sure it did. Lots of free publicity without ever having to deliver anything.

I think the city missed an opportunity with Cridge park to put in a playground. It's a simple idea but there isn't one downtown. And you would be shocked how many more outsiders visit CSV now that they upgraded the playground on Cook at May.

An indoor mega cool play zone with adult area of refuge at the capital 6 site. If I was filthy rich I'd just do it.

Ya the Cook park is crazy busy!

But they removed my favourite old school swing set in the whole city :(

^Well it was much quieter before the upgrade.

Imagine how much easier it would be to convince your kids to go downtown if you promised them some playground time. So much of a parent's decision is based on entertaining the yongins. And it would be a free activity. Bonus.

no need to be free if it was indoors. Less zombies to clear out, and usable in the rain, the most desperate days for a parent... An interactive scene museum with different activity zones like so

I really like the idea of re-purposing the Capital/Empire theatre building for some sort of recreational/entertainment purpose - as long as the Blanshard Street frontage is opened up for retail/restaurant usage.

If you remove the height limits downtown then a developer could work amenities into their proposals. If every inch has
to pay for itself then it is hard to provide space that will create a draw, but not a direct economic benefit. Let them build it and they will come.
