So with my pinched nerve and seeking of pain relief, after chewing Tylenol 3's, Aleve, some other prescription muscle relaxants and sleeping pills I searched out medical cannabis in Vancouver. It's the new gold rush over there. It was like an Amsterdam cafe in the 80's... I'm pretty sure I was the only need customer there besides a lot of social anxiety sufferers.... But that's OK, it was very civil. I could walk in and find different edibles etc in s civilized way, with lots of information and selection. I must say, it makes you care less about the pain and relax more. Thumbs up so far as far a pain management goes....Stomach is feeling much better....

Anyway, If anyone is in the know about Victoria's dispensaries etc I would like to know more....

No kidding; I stay in Kits when I'm over here on business - this entire area is a veritable marketplace of pot being bought and sold quite openly and, apparently, legally. The neighbor of my friend where I stay in fact makes an extremely lucrative living buying and selling pot oil out of storefront in South Vancouver and is in process of getting a legit business license. It is as common and plentiful a commodity as the flowers in Butchart Gardens. A lot of people over here are making a lot of coin. As far as Victoria I believe there is an outlet on Cook Street near North Park that will dispense medicinal cannabis if you can present a "prescription" signed by your GP.

My 86 y.o. Grandma in-law went to that slick new one on Quadra today but was turned away--something about not enough volunteers (?) but you can't make an appointment either. She has never tried pot but has a doctor's note for severe pain.

So many questions ranging from "you only service the alarms there, right... " to "am I going to be put on a list for visiting that site?" come to mind :P

NAC National Access Cannabis on Quadra at Kings can fill people in on all the details/requirements to obtain medical pot.

NAC is a cash grab. People pay for a card that allows them to buy from non legitimate or legal businesses. They do a Skype meeting with a physician which I find highly objectionable.

I suggest getting in contact with the only place that will give you the legal facts rather than sugar coating a big pile of b.s.

I was misinformed, it was actually the cannabis club on Johnson she was trying to get service at. That one looks pretty sketchy so the story makes sense in that respect. The Quadra one looks nicer than most doctors' offices.

I have been a client of the Johnson St Club for 11 years.  Just because a place looks "sketchy"  doesn't mean the people who work there are "sketchy.  The Johnson St Club staff are polite, knowledgeable, experienced, and kind.  There are several programs in-house to assist people of low or fixed income.  The staff take their responsibility very seriously. The clientele are kind and respectful of one another.  I have waited in line with lawyers, doctors, seniors, businessmen and women.  Your 80 yr old grandmother could do a lot worse my friend.

There are numerous ways to consume cannabis and the Johnson St Club carries a variety of edibles as well as leaf.  There are obviously many people working behind the scenes to bring pain relief to Victorians who suffer.

I have met a lot of clean cut attractive people in my life who were complete douchebags.  Just because someone has long hair or a few tattoos doesn't make them rude, bad person or uneducated.

Personally, I would rather do business with an organization that has been working in the community for many years than a start up operation with a fancy showroom.

Ted Smith who manages the Johnson St Club or Ted's Books has been fighting the good and hard fight for the legalization of medical pot for years and the struggle continues.  If not for Ted Smith these other pot shops would not exist.

Just their card I guess.  It's in the Leaf parking lot.
