Have to give a tip of the hat to this old standby; we, or at least I, hadn't been to Denny's since hitting one during Calgary Stampede in 2006 at about 5am one night/morning with my motley crew, a dining experience as you might appreciate given the time and the circumstances, I recall not one iota...
This morning however we decided to hit the Douglas/Finlayson outlet for breakie after dropping the kidlin' off at her p/t job at Mayfair Mall - it was great!
The service was efficient, prompt and polite; my Prime Rib Egg's Benny was excellent and the price extremely reasonable as you would expect at this no frills 'meat and potato's' restaurant. At the end of the day in spite of recent trends toward hoi poloi, fancy schmancy "fusion" this or that, IMO there is a reason why old stalwarts like Denny's are around years and even decades after supposedly "higher end" eateries in this town bite the dust and go the way of the dodo. The food is consistent, its very good value for money, and the service is solid. Oh yeah, not very surprisingly, the joint was jammed....
