Hard to believe plans were approved for this lot in 2002.

Medical office building coming to Tillicum at Trans Canada Highway

Excavation has begun for a long anticipated three storey medical office building at the corner of Tillicum Road and the Trans Canada Highway.

Developer King Lasik initially received development approvals for the high profile Saanich lot at 3645 Tillicum Road in 2002 but did not proceed on to construction. A decade later Alan Lowe Architect was secured to build on the earlier concept to better reflect the neighbourhood’s official community plan and the site’s prominent location at the gateway to both the Tillicum and “Saanich Core” neighbourhoods. Lowe's updated plans were approved in 2013. [Full article]

Is it still going to be a laser eye place? That sign's been up for many years.

All renderings are very poor quality at this time. And yes, it will be a laser eye surgery clinic. The developer is King Lasik.

Maybe the renderings are poor deliberately so that you think you need eye surgery.

A 3 storey medical clinic just seems a bit underwhelming for this location.

If only they stuck those 4 vents along the highway on the back side (battleford ave.). kind of ruins the look a bit.

They have the curbs back in for the bus stop, so it is almost back.

Wouldn't the part facing a highway be considered the back of a building?

Not if the front door is on Tillicum.

What I guess I mean is that the part facing a highway on buildings generally is the ugly one.

as nice as the building is looking, it feels wrong from this location.   It feels like the site is underused and the orientation is not really southward enough.

It could/should have some sort of feeling of connectivity to the Tillicum Mall area but I do not see how that will happen.
