Balmoral is ridiculous, I've stated that before.  We could build 300 new rentals right there easy.  Free land.

Well there is a proposal for 11 new rentals on Balmoral. At this rate we might see 300 by the year 2317.

Note to developers: propose 500 units in North Park if you want to build 300.

This week I take a look at some of the amazing places we have to get ramen in Victoria. If I missed a good one, let me know.

Just finished a new post about an actual sidewalk. The one on Government Street and how it outlines the shape of Fort Victoria. Read more here: http://www.sidewalki...ent-street.html

Excellent piece G-Man. I am going to print that puppy out and keep it in my car for the next time I am in that area.

But the piece is about sidewalks, and you're to keep your car off of them.

I was thinking that the whole time I wrote it. Likely why we won't see the bricks fixed up anytime soon. Thanks!

I think PR is just too darn far from everything to get developed much. Certainly not until a decent cell tower and high speed internet makes it there.

I agree on the cell tower and high speed internet. As for too far, people head off to Tofino for a weekend from Victoria all the time and that drive is considerably farther. Port Renfrew is just over two hours which for the stuff you can do and the way it feels, seems pretty close.

If PR wants that, they need to transform into a 'major surfing destination'.

you need major waves, reliable waves and predictable waves to become a major surfing destination Port Renfrew is not know for consistent waves.

It is however known as a hiking and camping destination and a fishing hub.

More money is generated in the sport fishing industry than anything else there. The problem lies in teh winter months when it is dark gloomy stormy windy rainy and when power is out frequently.

there are virtually no service there because there is no population to support anything.

It will never ever become another Tofino or at least no in our lives or our children's lives. the road sucks for the most part.

The Juan de Fuca trail is a draw but it has become a mud pit. the trail built by the NDP government has destroyed much of the forest floor and it has been mis managed by the liberal government. they do next to nothing to maintain it.They desperately need board walks and other safety infrastructure put in.

I haven't done one on that yet. I think that Ross Crockford might have done a piece on it at one time for Unknown Victoria.

I may have been thinking of this Boulevard piece. I will keep looking though as I remember it having more pictures of the old dealership in it.
