Before we go investing in "safe injections sites", perhaps we should be investigating this: http://www.businessi...disorder-2016-4. Or does our local government not believe in looking at alternative ways to treat addiction?

I'm not sure while we have this craziness on the streets that safe injection sites will be on the City agenda for a while.

It's a difficult psychological issue that probably no one fully understands, the problem isn't going away soon, so at least in the meantime a safe injection site will contain the "mess" unlike a needle exchange where people were given needles and supplies and walked outside to the neighbors and use and possibly overdose there. It's pathetic but it's the best solution I think anyhow.

However that being said it's a social experiment I think people would be naïve to believe that first-time drug users will not use safe injection sites, is that a bad thing is also the question?

What you're not hearing (until VV supports audio file uploads) is my snort of derision.  CBT, while effective, is hardly new - or alternative.  But her claim that addiction "is a form of pathologic learning" is facetiously simplistic.

While calling addiction a "disease" or a "moral failing" show complex reasoning?

Nope. Note that I didn't say so.

2007-2010 I wrote about needle exchanges and related topics on my blog. There are some news clips from articles that have since gone offline so it's a decent way to learn what the arguments were several years ago so we can be prepared for when those topics are inevitably resurrected.

The City no longer has agendas regarding social issues. It simply makes a statement and acts.

So sad, but SO true.

The tent city Facebook page will also be for people that oppose injection sites.
