Big changes are coming to Blanshard and Broughton streets as Fort Properties nears the reveal of its latest addition to downtown Victoria’s Fort Common District.

Formerly a VanCity Credit Union, the 7,700 square foot two-storey building at 1001 Blanshard Street, which includes a 1,500 square foot rooftop space overlooking the busy intersection, is being transformed into arguably one of the most unique commercial nodes in downtown Victoria.

“We’re pleased to confirm that something truly unique is underway at the Fort Common District,” says Fort Properties’ Leasing and Marketing Manager, Kristen Kitchen.

Kitchen isn’t kidding. The building’s top level is being converted into The Livet, a posh eatery that will boast — here it comes — a rooftop patio. Think The Standard in downtown Los Angeles meets Chateau Victoria’s Vista 18, drop them down several floors, and you get the idea. [Full article]

This is not a die-it, it's a live-it.

I'm really looking forward to this place opening up! We're getting close, but it's too bad it won't be open to really take advantage of this year's sunny weather (for long, anyways).

I once worked in a building on that site at 812 Broughton a few decades ago.

My civet hasn't been feeling well lately so I took it to the Livet for treatment. I was livid to learn they aren't even open yet. But all was not lost. We went around the corner and enjoyed some ceviche. Then we hopped into the Civic and drove to the beach. Wouldn't it be nice to do that every day?

I admit, from the street the space looks pretty slick and very un-'yee old Victoria' (a good thing).

The outdoor station, I'm not sure if that's a BBQ or just drinks, but it's pretty elaborate.
