As part of the overhaul of the hotel, were the rooms not updated ?
I meant pre-reno, so i'm not in the know about whether the interiors have had any updates.

Some rooms have had recent renovations. It's up to the individual owners.
I didn't realize that the Regent had this sort of ownership model.

I always assumed it was independently owned, traditional hotel.

Nope. It's the model that Delta Hotels (and Fairmont among others) has run in many of their hotel developments to raise cash. Sell off 50% as "owner occupied", then the owner can rent back to the front desk for a percentage. As a tourist, who wants to rent a room in a "hotel" that still has shag carpeting? (I think some of the original owners did no upgrades whatsoever).
I'm not sure if the "owners" are part of a strata or some other ownership model. Just saying, some of the units likely still have shag.
