Aside from the obvious, kebabs, hummus and falafel etc., what is "typical" Middle Eastern fare? Genuinely curious, never been to a restaurant specializing in mid-east cuisine. I think lamb is another staple which likely at least partially explains my avoidance since I am not a 'lamb guy'. What else?

Rice and lots of grilled meats and seafood. Potatoes too. Lots of meat and potatoes type of meals.

This sounds awesome! Looking forward to trying it out.

Not the sort of place for pulled pork I would imagine.

Yep i think I'm out of luck on the pulled pork score unfortunately! Sounds pretty tasty overall though - and also a very healthy cuisine given the emphasis on garlic, chickpeas, lean meats and olive oil etc., - so I imagine we'll give it a try at some point.

I'm still waiting for a good middle eastern falafel here - I'm very much hoping this is it!

There is an awesome falafel spot in Kona, Hawaii, started by a couple of Israeli guys. Delicious!

Don't be so sure.

I'm happy to say that there is now an awesome falafel spot in Victoria now. Went in on Saturday with mrs. thundergun and had a falafel wrap and the halloumi salad. Food was delicious and the place was buzzing. We'll be back very soon.
