Rogers beats major retreat from print media, taking four titles online, shopping others

The magazines will continue on as “content brands,” regularly publishing content online and through apps.

Maclean’s, Canada’s only newsweekly, will become a monthly, but still publish a weekly digital edition. Chatelaine and Today’s Parent, currently published monthly, will now feature on newsstands six times a year, and follow the same publishing schedule online. Hello! Canada magazine’s print schedule is unaffected by the announcement, and will continue to print a weekly edition.

They got their anus kicked with the HNIC deal and choosing hipster Strombo to host it, the Sportsnet magazines are a joke and the SN webpages are full of uninformed listicles about Toronto and its imitation hockey team. Too bad Maclean's will go monthly, way less topical that way.
Not feeling sorry about the plight of Canada's most loated company.

I don't get what you're saying about HNIC. I think Rogers scored big with that, not 'got their anus kicked'. They barely even pay much for the license to do HNIC.

Strombo is out now anyways, Maclean back in.

Did anyone hear that last week a man was murdered in Stroumbo's LA home? It may have been a home invasion.

Stroumbo was in New York at the time.

A man was found beaten to death Friday morning in a Los Angeles Hills home rented by Canadian media personality George Stroumboulopoulos.

Around 2:15 a.m., police received a call for a possible burglary in the 6700 block of Milner Road, said Jenny Houser, an LAPD spokeswoman.

When police arrived to the scene, they found a male who was the victim of a homicide, specifically blunt force trauma, Houser said. No additional information on the victim was released.

Strombo is out now anyways, Maclean back in.

They paid $5.2 billion for the NHL rights and only the
Blue Jays pennant run saved them from a red ink bath. Ratings were down so they booted Strombo, his earring and his shiny hipster suits. Hockey fans didn't like him and the hair gel crowd don't watch hockey.

Nhl rights isn't HNIC. Last year was bad for them due to lack of Canadian teams in the playoffs. That isn't going to continue.

Rogers owns the rights and sells them on.
Lack of playoff teams hurt them for sure but the ratings had been disappointing. Ratings down, people walk tne plank.
Let's hope we have Cdn teams in this year. Not for Rogers' sake but for ourselves.

Rogers employees are trying to buy the five remaining print magazines from Rogers Communications Incorporated. These are, Macleans, Today's Parent, Hello! Canada, and the English and Canadian versions of Chatelaine along with other digital content.

Rogers tried to sell them to the owners of the Hockey News but that deal fell apart last year.
