HB, what would be the culprit behind that move?
Know it all.

Saw the bus operating without the engine cover this afternoon near the conference centre.
Stowaways often hide in engine compartments.

Oh?
HB, what would be the culprit behind that move?
Its a Wilsons bus maybe it fell off.
if you have seen some of their equipment you will know what I am talking about
The engine covers are held in place with hinges and pistons such as pistons that hold open hatch back doors etc

What does this say about the viability of commuter rail?

What does this say about the viability of commuter rail?
That it will need to be combined with better land use policies surrounding the line and better funding.

What does this say about the viability of commuter rail?
That a bus is not commuter rail.

Not surprising at all. In my experience getting to and from the West Shore by transit, in general, wasn't the issue -- the 50 and 61 buses did a fine job of getting people in and out of town. The problem was getting to and from the 50, a problem the Langtoria bus doesn't address. The route doesn't touch the Costco side of the highway, nor does it come anywhere near a huge part of the West Shore.

What does this say about the viability of commuter rail?
It says people don't want to sit in traffic. Commuter rail doesn't sit in traffic....

^Or most people are willing to pay a bigger premium to be in their own car and not have to share with the proletariat.

It's shows people are unwilling to pay even a slight premium above that of a BC Transit bus pass for a luxury coach that whisks them in comfort to downtown Victoria.
I don't think that's the issue. It's the timing. How many people did you expect to find with the exact same start and end time? Easy to find 44 people going in at that time. Easy to find 44 going out at that time. But now match those people and you only have the dozen.

Neither do buses on dedicated lanes.
That's not true. They usually stop over and over again every few blocks and have to fight with the bike lane. Then they need to stop at every red light.....not exactly an efficient experience.
