Who needs whom here?

Meta doesn’t need the CBC. Nor does it need the National Post. But the CBC and National Post need Meta, for story leads, access to witnesses and sources, and then the promotion of their content. And that’s only when they’re -not- simply reproducing press releases or creating content off off press releases. Meta isn’t stupid, they know their role in all of this and how media creates content. What the Liberals are doing is asking the taxi driver to pay the passenger.

Did this happen in Australia and then get overturned?

It happened in Australia but was never implemented. Deals were made.

It’s an organised government sponsored shakedown.

If they are “stealing news” they could be sued.

Appearing on GB News is a 'mission' - suspended presenter Robinson

GB News will be "on borrowed time" if they don't stand up for Dan Wootton, presenter Calvin Robinson said in a lengthy post on X, formerly Twitter, earlier this morning. He has since been suspended.

He went on to say that they would all be "next in the firing line" if they failed to do so and that appearing on GB News was not just a job, but a "mission".

He also criticised "careerist ambitious" people on GB News that "are worse than the woke mob, because these vultures are giving the mob ammunition". He also called out his bosses, saying they were scared of Ofcom, of the "woke mob" and of running out of money.

Robinson ended his long message by saying that standing up for Wootton was "standing up for the very idea of GB News".

Laurence Fox has been sacked from GB News following on-air comments he made about political journalist Ava Evans.

The channel announced the decision on Wednesday afternoon, as it was reported Fox was arrested by the Met Police at his London home on suspicion of conspiring to commit criminal damage to ULEZ cameras.

GB News presenter Calvin Robinson was also fired by GB News.

In a statement, the channel said: “Laurence Fox and Calvin Robinson were both suspended last week pending internal investigations that have now concluded.

“As of today, GB News has ended its employment relationship with Laurence Fox and Calvin Robinson.

“I would encourage mass, mass removal of the surveillance state, because once it’s there you cannot remove it,” he said on the show.

“I would be happy to be arrested myself. When I go out and take their cameras down, which I will be doing...I will be taking my phone with me so they know exactly where I am.

“I would happily sit there in court and go ‘who voted for this? what’s your evidence for the outer London cleaner air zone? what’s your evidence for doing this?’”

A spokesperson for the Met said: “On Wednesday 4, October officers arrested a 45-year-old man on suspicion of conspiring to commit criminal damage to ULEZ cameras and encouraging or assisting offences to be committed.

They are called Blade Runners. It has really hit the streets there.

The Liberal government’s 2024 fiscal update shows that Canadian taxpayers will be doling out up to 35% of mainstream media journalists’ salaries for the next four years, which can be up to $30,000 per employee.

Liberals expand payroll tax credit for news publishing in fall economic update

The government's statement announced an increase to the Canadian Journalism Tax Credit — a refundable tax credit allowing qualifying news outlets to claim up to 35 per cent of up to $85,000 in salary for a qualified employee

https://nationalpost...economic-update

That’s an increase from the credit’s initial allowance of 25 per cent of up to $55,000 in salary per employee.

First announced in the government’s 2018 fall economic statement and made official in the 2019 federal budget, the tax credit was designed to support print news publishers.

The newly expanded credit will be retroactive to the beginning of 2023, the economic update said. It projects the cost to the federal government will be $129 million over five years.

Now that is a solid investment.

I know the CBC lies. They pretend to be journalists.

“the central proof used to question my identity is a story fabricated by my abuser and repeated by two members of my estranged family I don’t even know.” Her alleged abuser, she says, is her brother. Sainte-Marie then reiterates that she believed she was one of many Indigenous people whose birth certificate was “‘created’ by western governments after they were adopted or taken away from their families” and it was “quite shocking” to hear a city clerk express total confidence in her document’s authenticity in The Fifth Estate.

“If you are a pure-blood documented something, I’m glad for you,” Sainte-Marie goes on to say. “But even if your documentation says you’re racially pure, you might miss the point. Being an ‘Indian’ has little to do with sperm tracking and colonial record keeping: It has to do with community, culture, knowledge, teachings, who claims you, who you love, who loves you, and who’s your family.”

Can’t a simple DNA test just figure this out?

How long will this saga be drawn out, with so much drama and hypotheticals? A quick test will silence critics.

Perhaps it would, but one’s DNA is one’s own business and not anyone else’s, unless one chooses otherwise.

Would you get a DNA test just because I wanted to know what the results would be?

So why is the CBC making her ethnicity their business?
