Long time lurker, first time poster.  Came across this tonight, and felt I should share it on here.  Google has put together a time lapse video from satellite imagery of all over the world from 1984-2016.  I've pasted the link to Victoria below.  Enjoy

Great find!

Things I noted in the timelapse:

- Bear Mountain just pops up all of a sudden, while it appears Royal Bay has been a project a quarter-century in the making ;)

- It appears downtown gets denser and more vertical but that may also just be because the picture quality gets better.

(Not the owner of, nor am I associated with, the Blue Fox Café, in any way.)

Hartland Landfill grew a lot, Uptown popped up, log booms disappeared and Oak Bay stayed the same. Just what you would expect.

Welcome to the forum, Marks_28!

These timelapse images have been making headlines lately around the internet, but I'm sure I saw them a few years ago.  Google Earth has had the feature built in for quite a while now.

And huge areas of Sooke were logged off starting in 1994.

^ Yes but do you see that they turn green again after time?

If you look farther north up the island that jumps out at you as well. Same in Washington State.

That's the probably not reforestation, but acres of marijuana.
