Anyone been?

Been there a few times now and it's been quite good each time.  If you like pasta, it's worth checking out.

Yes, interesting concept. Food was good. Worth a trip.

Also agree. Gteat food, great decor. Yet a very loud room with to many shiny flight surfaces (which help make the very loud room).

Can you elaborate on the concept (beyond serving pasta)? Why would I go here over a Fiamo/Il Terrazo/Zambri's etc?

It would have to be amazing to get me there instead of the old reliables at Pagliacci's. The last time I took a chance on a new pasta joint it was Fort Street's The Binge Eatery. Afterwards I felt like The Purge.

Nice to know there is another pasta option in town, always on the lookout for something new. Tried Zambri's a couple of times back when I worked at the Atrium and found it terribly overrated and never went back. Where is the 800-block Cloverdale - is that near Quadra, or closer to Blanshard?

Lot 1 is in the same plaza as Homesense and the former Sears Home Centre.

I tried Zambri's a couple of times at its original location and could never understand why people raved about it. I used to love the pasta at Il Faro (on Admirals Road, near Esquimalt, in the late nineties -- I mourn the carbonara to this day). I have a pasta-loving child -- will try Lot 1 next time we're in Victoria.

Lot 1 is very good. Better than Pag's, IMO.

We went the first week they were open so I cut them some slack. That said, my carbonara was too wet and runny. Not much flavour and the pasta got a tad soggy. It's not fair to pass judgement on the basis of just one visit so I will give them another shot.

I choose it over Zambris because Zambris offers 6 incredibly lackluster pasta dishes.

I'm not a Zambri's fan either personally. I was trying to use those places to get more info on this 'interesting concept', that turned out to be the well known and not-interesting concept of a regular restaurant.
