Rogers has announced improvements to its LTE wireless signals in the areas of Bear Mountain in Langford, the B.C. Legislature grounds on Victoria’s Inner Harbour and the Saanichton area of Victoria’s Saanich Peninsula, according to a statement issued by the company. Improvements have also been undertaken in Nanaimo’s Harewood area.

"Our customers want wireless access wherever they are, whether it's to keep in touch with friends and family, or do business on Vancouver Island," said Perm Jawanda, Regional Vice-President, British Columbia, Rogers Communications. "That's why we're investing to make sure they have worry-free, reliable access to our great-performing network in more places. As communities across the province keep growing, we're going to continue to improve service across British Columbia."

Rogers describes the improvements as follows:

Bear Mountain Golf Resort and Spa, Langford – Customers now enjoy high speed wireless internet and voice services at this luxurious vacation resort and residential development, whether they are hitting the links at the resort's two world renowned golf courses, playing tennis on Canada's largest indoor/outdoor clay courts, or entertaining business clients. Wireless coverage was turned on July 31.

B.C. Legislature, Victoria – Visitors, residents, and members of the legislature will notice improved wireless coverage to the businesses and homes located to the west of and including the B.C. legislative buildings. These improvements were completed on June 16, just in time for Canada's 150 year celebration.

Mt. Newton Cross Road, near Saanichton – Customers travelling along Highway 17, between Sidney and Keating Crossheading to and from the B.C. Ferry Terminal and Victoria, as well as residents living around Saanichton and Saanichton Bay, now have access to improved wireless service. Service turned on May 31.

Harewood, Nanaimo – Customers in this community will notice improved wireless service when travelling in the area between Highway 19 and the Old Island Highway in the south end of Nanaimo. Wireless coverage was turned on June 22.

LTE, the fastest generation of wireless service in Canada, provides stronger, more consistent data speeds, similar to high speed broadband home Internet. With LTE, customers can stream and do more on the go with less buffering. The improved service also provides HD quality voice services when using a device enabled with VoLTE, the latest voice technology. In addition, Rogers has turned on 700 MHz spectrum in these areas. This spectrum provides better coverage in hard to reach places like basements, elevators, and buildings with thick concrete walls, meaning customers will have a stronger LTE signal on their device and will be less likely to lose LTE coverage and drop to lower data speeds.
