Will she be leading by example?

There's far too much sensitive material entrusted in her to allow for that.

Know it all.

Not to call the kettle black but any oak trees removed for the construction of the neighboring buildings?

NIMBY's are immune to hypocrisy.

But the developer is also literally a NIMBY.

Most of the comments on this thread are too as most don't live in Oak Bay including me but I have lived in Oak Bay before and would live there again.

Now there are the outsiders that want to come and cut down the very trees that OAK Bay is known for.

You mean like the trees that were cut down to build the residences in which the NIMBYs adjacent to this project live?

Except the desperate people, they are welcome to come join in the pot-latch.

May have been the only tree on the site you have the historical documentation?

They say being a little bit desperate is healthy.

The anonymous outsiders on this thread could always show up at the Oak Bay Council meeting to voice their displeasure as to why Oak trees shouldn't be cut down.

It's a GREAT TREE!

But I think the 12 new ones will be a bit better.  Let's go for it.

That size in a lifetime?

The tree is a beauty and almost as old as the city itself. I'm supposed to believe there's no way to fit a new development on the property without harming the tree? No alternative configuration that would work? No way to strike a deal re: a couple of extra levels or less underground parking in return for preserving the tree? Give me a break.

...along with planting 11 new trees at the Quest, which because of underground parking would have plenty of greenery on site...

They certainly will have 12 times the opportunity to become great trees.

But would any of them be oak trees?
