The manager of that hotel is on City council...
I know, which is all the more reason to post this matter to Tripadvisor - it will hit her right in the wallet.

Won't hit her in the wallet as she isn't the owner. Will hit Danzo in the wallet and he may start to rethink why his GM is working against his business interests on council.

A negative Tripadvisor review of the Rialto could put her job in jeopardy, which amounts to the same thing. Either way, it's in Ms. Lucas' best interest to get Victoria city council thinking about the effects of their laissez fair attitude towards crime in the downtown core.

Not many people carry $300.00 in their wallet these days...
As it happens, just last night I was watching "cool Japan" on the Japanese channel and it was all about things like credit card usage and carrying cash on one's person, etc. Apparently it's the norm in Japan to be carrying the equivalent of $300. And credit cards are still not as widely used as elsewhere.

Where was your friend coming from before he was mugged.
Not many people carry $300.00 in their wallet these days, so someone must have saw him opening his wallet somewhere and targeted him.
Yeah, so it's his fault. Can't be flashing money around in desperate city.

Yeah, the central care home guy who randomly killed that young quebecker by the McDonalds in November had a rap sheet as long as my arm (maybe longer!) that included assaults, assaults with weapon, assaults on police officers, drug dealing, etc. Yet he was still out there, living at our expense, in a low barrier housing facility right in the heart of downtown.
Is this true? Was the person who stabbed the young man from Quebec a resident of Central Care Home? I don't remember seeing that in the news.

YES. It was not in the news, but a worker there (844 Johnson) confirmed it with me.

Interesting. That is quite the cover up.

I'm not sure. Most serious crime suspects, they do not say their home address. Usually just their place of residence, the city or municipality.

He has no recollection from when he got hit, until 5 hours later, when he awoke in hospital. So maybe he was not "out" the whole time, but there is a mental gap there.
So not a coma, but like he's missing time?
That is a classic concussion symptom. I hope he's feeling ok and that they nail the bastard(s).

There somewhat recently never had my credit card turn down.
So... the muggers could have been Japanese.
Virtually nobody gets mugged in Japan.

I don't think that $300 is too much. It might be the high side of normal, but one should be able to carry pretty much any amount without having to worry..
