WS RCMP can not find that chipper theft guy. Even though they do have his name, and home address. Guess he's hiding out. He has other warrants too.

Do you have a suggestion?

No, I'm just providing the update. It's just a theft case I know there is no urgency to find this guy.

He does live in a high profile location that can be seen from a major street that cops drive by many times per day and his neighbours know to report him if he comes home.

So it might not be long before he just turns himself in.

So we've reached out to VicPD. Should get an update soon, they've asked us to always reach out to them if we have questions. The message has been read.

VicPD have now responded, and confirm there has been a data upload issue that will hopefully be resolved this week.

Its been down for a month.....
I'll believe it when I see it. Forgive me for being sceptical but they said the same thing last year when they stopped reporting crime stats on their own web site. One year later, they still have not reinstated it. Furthermore, not a single quarterly report is available for 2016.

We'll keep on it, for sure.

Are you able to confirm it has been down for a month or are we missing the March data only (I.e something happened and axed the entire month last week, or whatnot)?

This is... actually kind of great. I love these lingering laws from the days of yore. Better yet, I'd love to watch this one play out in court - how would one defend themselves to prove the legitimacy of their sorcery?

Pretending to practise witchcraft, etc.

365 Every one who fraudulently

  • (a) pretends to exercise or to use any kind of witchcraft, sorcery, enchantment or conjuration,

  • (b) undertakes, for a consideration, to tell fortunes, or

  • (c ) pretends from his skill in or knowledge of an occult or crafty science to discover where or in what manner anything that is supposed to have been stolen or lost may be found,

is guilty of an offence punishable on summary conviction.

Toronto police charge man for pretending to practice witchcraft after victim pays $101K to remove evil spirit

They're about to clean up the criminal code for the first time in thirty years. Would be curious to see if that section survives!

Pretty sure most professional magicians call their work illusion. I suppose some children's magicians could be running afoul of that law.

Yes, and the lawlessness is out of control. Magic leads to all kinds of sleight of hand crime.
