Looks like at least the worst thing in Vegas since the MGM fire.

Reports coming in now that ISIS is claiming responsibility for the attack. ISIS claims the shooter, Stephen Paddock, converted to Islam several months ago.

The truly sad thing is that the discussion on unfettered access to assualt rifles will not become part of the conversation other than for some people to suggest that had the concert goers been allowed to pack at the concert they could have fired back.

One hour twelve minutes from the first 911 call to the time police breached the room. Holy crap.

There's lots of misinformation swirling about right now. Some sources say he was killed by cops, others say he was dead by the time cops showed up.

I think you probably have to understand that it's not easy to pinpoint the room.  Probably the lead maintenance guy is your best bet to look up at the hotel from the street and say "that's room 3216".  But that guy's not likely on shift on a Sunday night, and it's not exactly safe to stand out there in target range and be doing that.  You might have to search 100 or more rooms before you get the right one.  The hotel has 3309 rooms.  It's kind of a 3-point star.  So 1000 rooms in each wing, 500 facing each way.  So you are looking up at 500 rooms and trying to figure it out.  And coordinating your guys inside.

I'm hearing gunsmoke may have set off the fire alarm and that may have helped them pinpoint it, from the fire board.

By living and dying (literally) for guns, guns, and more guns, Americans understand that such a commitment comes at a cost.

Last night in Las Vegas, like Sandy Hook and the assorted campus slaughters ... is that cost.

It's not going to change anytime soon, so there's not much point in ruminating over it ... just mourn for the dead and accept that the United States of America lives and dies for its guns.

That their cherished 2nd Amendment was written in the 1700's, for a very different purpose than ensuring you can own a machine gun in 2017-  seems to be a discussion Americans are fundamentally unable to even begin.

it's a shame, absolutely heartbreaking in fact.

Hudson Mack's son was injured by the gunfire.

VicPD Police Chief Del Manak was in the hotel where the shooter was.

To the brains at the NRA and their congressional supporters this just goes to show what happens when people are not well enough armed. It's a travesty that RPG launchers are banned. If just a few of the concertgoers had RPGs think how many lives could have been saved.

Thank goodness the US Congress is poised to act on this with great resolve:
