But the highway could have been moved, paralleling the E & N, as originally laid out for all highway improvement options in the 2007 Malahat report.  That would have left the village as a quieter area and improved highway safety more about than having it wind through the Village.

Notice that instead of going through Malahat Village, it plots an alternative alignment.

But why not bypass the village, running it parallel to the E & N as originally planned?  That would be safer as well as leave the somewhat of village feel intact.

What we need is Malahat Hell Road 911

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gjmNUlWfjnA

And we need HB as the principle videographer.  Every episode will have Malahat Fire Chief Ron Patterson yelling at HB.  401 has the catch-phrase "because closure is not an option!" but our series will end with "closure - always the first option!"

The Malahat is closed northbound at Finlayson Arm Road due to an MVI.

^That's quite the thing.

If Jacob Bros. could actually get the job done at the cost Emil Anderson thinks they can, Jacob would realize at least a $5.5M straight profit on a $24M job.

I don't understand how there can be such a discrepancy.

One of those bids is clearly flawed and I don't think it is Jacob Bros.
