...As I said recently on the Greater Victoria Placemaking Network post, public space is like commercial space, you need the client base to make it successful....
And unless the CoV has secret plans to greatly increase density, we already have more than enough plazas and gathering places for the present and foreseeable future.

hey would it not be best to buy up the land now so you don't have to pay as much in the future once you have dencified. That are actually planning for the future for once. And unless the CoV has secret plans to greatly increase density, we already have more than enough plazas and gathering places for the present and foreseeable future.

I think this may be a case of the Dev Tracker not being up to date. The application went to Heritage and Advisory Design committees in February. Both endorsed the application with some minor comments, so the developer is likely addressing those comments and working with staff to get this item to Council.
Not sure if this is playing in to it at all, but there may be an effort to keep potentially contentious items off of Council's plate close to the election (I know that's the case in some municipalities, at least)

Looks like revised plans were submitted back in September for this one. Lots of changes in response to Heritage Design Panel and Advisory Design panel comments. I believe the guts are the same, with no change to the unit count, but you'll have to comb through the revised plans to check for yourself. Dev Tracker folder is here: https://tender.victo...Number=HAV00005

I am guessing construction will start on this sometime after the Northern Junk project is finished.

What exactly is going forward? That dull Centra Gas wannabe building we saw earlier this year? This is moving along while the remediation of the Ducks Block is stalled????

Meanwhile, the Northern Junk project must be approaching its second decade of revisions without being any closer to approval.

Too much reference to Christianity with all that brick.
And the cream colour of the brick looks a lot like a type of poinsettia.

Thornton-Joe straight up asked staff if they could give her a reason to refer it back. In the end, this one is heading to a Public Hearing.
