This is my favourite chocolate shop in Victoria. Unlike the rich sweet chocolates of Rogers and Purdies, these are creamy and silky tasting. One chocolate and I am transported. But today I am inspired because I tried their cafe mocha for the first time. I think I am in love. I have not had a better cafe mocha ever, anywhere, period. Not even at Habit, and that is saying alot! I guess they use their own chocolate. I'd asked for whipped cream and chocolate shavings but the fellow making it seemed a bit hesitant, and I was sort of in a rush so I took it without. And I am glad I didn't. It would have been a sacrilege.

I agree, this place has the best chocolates -- and great coffee, too. Whenever anyone at our house has a birthday or there's some special event, we use it as an excuse to get a box of chocolates. Out of this world...

Thanks for the info!
I don't know how many times I've walked by there wondering what it's like.

I love how you can smell it on the street when you walk by.

Their truffle chocolates are to die for too.

I stopped by twice during a recent trip to Victoria. I quite enjoyed the wasabi ginger.

Stopped in today on the way to work and picked up a medium sized box of their choice - $105/kg, it ain't cheap. The good stuff never is.

And this was good stuff.... the filled chocolates all have a nice thin shell, lots of snap (excellent tempering, I bet they use a machine) and clearly quality ingredients going in. Of the few I tried tonight, I particularly like the soft filled ones, nice and runny. The whole experience was deeply satisfying. While I still really like Purdy's and Rogers, there really isn't much point in comparing the three stores. Chocolat is just that different.

Better than my usual Cadbury Fruit and Nut bar!

Matt.

Sad to hear that Helene Pappas the mastermind behind Chocolat died at the end of March. Rest in peace.
