So you get to vote once at each location?

Nowadays most people die of a sort of creeping common sense, and discover when it is too late that the only things one never regrets are one's mistakes.

We make light of the issue but there is a reason why the Federal Government and many municipalities outside of BC require photo ID to vote.

If you were so inclined, it would be very easy to cast multiple ballots with about a 0% chance of ever being caught.

All we are asked is a signature - and then your name is taken off the list at that particular poll. There is no database coordination (it's a printed list) to ensure someone cannot vote at separate locations - yet, at Hillcrest at least, there is an electronic counting machine. Those printed lists are generated from a database, so why not simply create a secure login election day version, and have scrutineers check names off through a computer system as people vote - that would prevent anyone from multiple voting.

On a side note - is it fair that landed immigrants can't vote in municipal elections? I could vote in Belgium 3 months after residential registration (same wait as getting health insurance) in local elections, and provincial referendums.
