Here is the poster I did for it:

“well worth staying up on a school night… beautiful and horrifying…. a challenging and significant work… expertly interpreted by a theatre company who doesn't shy away from accepting said challenges.” -Monday Magazine

“dramatically feels deeply right and true… This is one of the finest new plays I have seen… a remarkable achievement… anyone who cares about good theatre should not miss it.” -CBC

Scorched

by Wajdi Mouwawd

November 4th – November 21st
(Preview November 4th)

This 2007 Dora Award winning play explores themes growing out of the immigrant/refugee experience. It has proven itself one of the most powerfully engaging dramatic works to be produced in this country during the past three years. Civil war in the Middle East forms the backdrop for much of the play’s action as Mouwawd explores with profound insight the concepts of love, loyalty, and betrayal. The plot revolves around a brother and sister’s quest to unearth the history – and mystery - of their deceased immigrant mother. As their journey takes them to the Middle East, they enter into a process of coming to terms with their own sense of loss and emptiness, while learning to understand the legacy of suffering left in the wake of conflict.

Scorched is directed by Clayton Jevne and features Casey Austin, Michael Shewchuk, Naomi Simpson, Sara Asyyed, Jason Stevens, Evan Roberts, and Paddy Crawford.

Scorched continues until November 21st , Wednesday through Saturday evenings at 8 pm, with a 2pm Matinee on Saturday, November 21st.

Thanks Rob,

You did a beautiful job on the poster.

Sara Asyyed is a friend of mine who is one of the main characters in the play. I will be seeing it this Friday.

Cheers

Aaron
