Hi. I'm 50 and still like to go out and dance......Where do older people go at night? The clubs all seem full of 20 year olds. No offence......but would love to go somewhere that caters to older people and plays music from older bands (such as the Stones, Bowie, etc.).

So people.....do tell............Where does the 40-60 year old group hang out in Victoria? Surely there's at least one night club that has older people .....

We checked out the Irish Times tonight, but honestly, most people were closer to 90.

Thanks.

Not sure if Social Club is still open but that was meant for an older crowd. Many years ago I worked at the Latin Dance placeout at the Ukrainian cultural centre and was a great mix of young to those in there 80's.

There was a tango group at the Scout Hall in Fairfield. Mike knows about salsa dancing. Swans pub skews to an older dance crowd when they have live music.

Bartholomews has houses bands that play that kind of music. I was there I think on a Saturday a couple of months back and it was hopping full of people in there 40s and 50s having a really great time. Half of them were dancing the night away and the rest were socializing and drinking. I just sat at the bar for an hour observing. It was a really fun and relaxed atmosphere. This, no doubt, surely is what you're looking for.

Cafe Casablanca on Bridge Street at Bay Street has a diverse crowd. It's become quite the popular place for salsa, flamenco and tango dancing.

VHF meant Barts, aka Bartholomew's at the foot of the Executive House Hotel at Douglas and Fairfield.

Know it all.

Thanks for all the suggestions. That's great!

And re Swans - do they have dancing there? I was thinking it was just a bar/lounge.

Thanks.

And for those that can't make it into town, I hear J.J Morgans (McKenzie @ Cedar Hill) kicks it old school deep, deep into the afternoon...

The bottom line? If you're a dancing fossil here you better like Spanish music. No wonder I never go out anymore.

VHF, you can post here using your Ipod? Don't you mean Iphone?

Correct. When you see my spelling, capitalization, punctuation and grammar go to hell, you'll know I'm using the IPod. A micro-keyboard will dumb you down too.

^You could also try typing without a rum and coke in one hand there, Julian.
