I like a good burger and have been happy to see several new restaurants serving burgers this year. I've dined at these:

  • Big Wheel Burger
  • Bin 4
  • Bubby's Kitchen
  • Burger King
  • Fatburger
Burger King is the least expensive, yet is still a decent burger. It'll be my choice when I'm not feeling like spending much money.

Big Wheel and Fatburger are comparable to each other in quality, and a step up compared to Burger King. Fatburger has a "touristy" atmosphere, while Big Wheel seems to be primarily take-out.

Bin 4 and Bubby's Kitchen are another step up in quality. Both are excellent. Choosing between them would likely be based on the mood I was in and what kind of atmosphere I wanted.

When I'm feeling rich, though, I think I'll still end up at the Pennyfarthing. The burgers are comparable to Bin 4 and Bubby's, but the available yam fries and Guinness give Pennyfarthing the edge.

I understand Aura at the Laurel Point Inn is the place to beat when it comes to burgers.

Bin 4 is owned by the same guy as Sauce and apparently, like at Sauce, you have to be a hot girl to work there.

Didn't the owner of Bin4 sell his stake in Sauce?

Know it all.

It's probably been mentioned on this forum, but the Victoria Burger Blog is a great reference for this.

I didn't know that but I'll assume you are correct. Anyway, I won't eat anywhere where the hiring criteria is solely female hotness. I don't find it comfortable when a ridiculously hot girl starts fake-flirting with me when my cheeks are full of hamburger. Also on that list are Earl's, The Office, Sauce, and Cactus Club. They make me feel one or two steps above going to a prostitute.

A person that used to do the hiring at Cactus Club used to say that he hired based on looks because you can't teach that which makes sense to me because that's a factor for a lot of young people eating out and with the amount of competition there is, it could be the deciding factor. As for myself, I don't really care what the servers look like since i'm there for the food and generally old enough to have created most of the servers.

I remembered what you mentioned here Holden and had the need to host a power lunch last week. I happen to love this location for the view while eating.

So I tried the burger. All I can say is WOW! I could not believe how good this puppy was. I took this souvenir for you.

That looks like a good burger but $18 for a burger is a bit crazy, I guess the $8 is for the setting.

I've found ferris's is great for burgers and Doubles/Bart's is good too, they are my go-to places for affordable quality hot hamburg sammiches. Damn now I want bart's mexican chicken burger.

^ Yes you are correct about the price and the setting. Sometimes though....if the setting is what you need...the price can be rationalized...especially if the burger is.....just that good.

It didn't take long to find Vancouver burger places reviewed which makes me think the blog creator has A.D.D.

Ate at Big Wheel Burger tonight. It was good but Wendy's is just as good and about half the price.

I haven't had this burger but might just try it from seeing the photo.

$18 for the burger and that side does not seem that out of line to me for something that appears to be quality. For half of that you get a Whopper with fries and I guarantee this is twice as good if you enjoy burgers.

There are burgers and there are "burgers"... just like steak. You can go to a crappy place and get a 9oz steak for $9, full of fat and cooked poorly, or you can go to a good steak house and get a 6 oz steak cooked to perfection for 2.5 times and no one complains.

Why should hamburgers be any different? It's the same piece of animal.

^Well put. And don't forget you are likely going to get impeccable service at Aura. However, at the fast food joint, chances are the staff are wasted on cheap pot and the Southern Comfort from their parents' liquor cabinet so anything goes service-wise.

You can take that back because i've eaten at both and BigWheel is nowhere near "twice as good" as Burger King, and i've eaten a lot of different burgers in my life (if you saw me in person you wouldn't question that :D). The flame-broiled taste of a nice juicy whopper gives it a unique fresh-off-the-barbecue taste that is very hard to beat.

Have you eaten at both and compared prices?

Do you ever eat at any of these places to find out what the service is actually like or do you just like to make smartassed comments not based on anything? I can't count the number of times i've eaten at Wendy's but i'm sure it's well over a hundred and I can count on one hand the number of mistakes they've made. In fact, I can't believe sometimes how good the service is.

Read Phil they were talking about the burger at Aura not Bigwheel. Pic above.

^You're right. Whoops! :o

I'm surprised no one has mentioned this place since burgers is all they make. It was good. They have 19 different things you can add to your burger.

I admit I don't patronize fast food joints and am basing my service impressions solely on Youtube videos.
