I haven't done one on that yet. I think that Ross Crockford might have done a piece on it at one time for Unknown Victoria.

The building with the tile wall was once the Jamieson Coffee Co Ltd.  est 1888.

The tile wall was once inside the showroom of Jamieson Motors, and there used to be a large fountain on the floor. When the building was demolished only the wall fountain remained

Rootes Group Jamieson Motors was the Rootes dealer, selling Hillman, Sunbeam and Singer.

They were in the 700 block of Courtney Street. Apparently they took over a funeral home premises.

They had quite a showroom – all in tile and with a fountain as well. Jamieson Motors is where Susan Jones’ Sunbeam Rapier was sold from close to 50 years ago.

The reason I was asking is because I think it would be a great story because that fountain has a twin.

There is another identical fountain the matching pair to that one downtown but its hidden from view but easy to find

It lives its life behind a BFI bin .

I have long thought the city should take possession of it and put it somewhere that the public can enjoy it

I suppose if crockford did a story on it they know about the second one and that its would be very interesting for people to read about and see.

Just finished my latest post. This time on the City of Victoria's plan for the Ship Point Lots. I am less than enthusiastic. http://www.sidewalki...point-lots.html

Great article on the Ship Point design massacre G-Man. I too am "underwhelmed and disappointed" by what is proposed and I said as much in the CoV's online survey. I encourage everyone who has any opinion about what is envisioned for this high profile location to make their thoughts known to the city. I am hoping it is not too late to re-envision this vision.

Good article G-Man. This is the first I've heard of the Reid Centre and would be interested in hearing more about it, perhaps in a future blog post...?

Perhaps one of the best pics is right on the cover of the Unbuilt Victoria book.

Nice Blurb..good pics. That sis 1 of only a small hand full of towns Ive never been to in BC

I wish Global BC Weekend news would include photos of the town in their Small town BC segments on Sat and Sun morning

The Global BC thing should be call people animals and kids and other stuff not related to the towns everything not showing what the towns look like

It's a nice place to visit but you wouldn't want to live there. I should know; it's where I spent the first 11 years of my life.

I could see that but with some work it could be a real tourist draw.

Sidewalking Victoria has been pretty quiet for a bit but that is just because I have been working on a new site. Here is the new cleaner and friendlier Sidewalking Victoria: https://www.sidewalkingvictoria.com/

The ten or so posts have been updated but I still have lots of old content that is not displaying properly. Still didn't want to hold off on it any longer. If you notice something not working please let me know. Also old links for now will not work. Though they at least get you to the site. Happy for feedback!

I haven't reviewed the updated site in detail yet, but at a quick glance I really like the new format. I very much appreciate all the work you put into this G-Man.  :)

That is a slick looking website and very informative and user friendly...with no mauve banners.

Awesome, we were just camping at Saltery Bay last week. Yes, Powell River is a great little town to walk around in.

And here is another nearby getaway, Port Townsend Washington! https://www.sidewalk...send-washington

It might be a bit more your style Nparker. Lots of urban buildings though they are all 140 years old!

And don't fret VV I will be doing more local work now that the summer is coming to a close :)
