That's ambitious, I think that will not pass council. What municipality is this in?

View Royal?
Right, it is. I can hear some of the councillors already, "not human scale" etc.

I'm pretty sure there is also a thread about this property already. Too lazy to try to find it though....

Wow. Designed by D'Ambrosio - cool!

Protest group:
As Realstar drives ahead with their pitch to redevelop Christie Point, I would like to come together as a community to share information. They have created www.christiepoint.ca to communicate with residents. Let's use this Facebook group as a way to connect amongst ourselves as residents and neighbours about our concerns.
Please share this group with other residents, in Christie Point and around Portage Inlet. If we can't stop the redevelopment, let's ensure we are protected and our community concerns are addressed by Realstar and View Royal Town Council.

This looks like a slam dunk to me, which probably means years of bitter dispute and controversy are ahead of us.

one possible downside to this is the increased traffic on the old island highway, regardless of whatever improvements they're planning for the road & intersection at shoreline & old island hwy.
It's only 359 net new rental units, so maybe 1,000 people or so. The impact to traffic won't be significant, but you can bet a donut that this oppositional scapegoat will be trotted out!

Perhaps they'll take a cue from the CoV and install some "smiley face-frowny face" traffic sings; This solves all traffic problems.

Why are they building rentals though? This would be a slam dunk for condo's, it's a terrific area but right now it looks like low income rentals.

They don't have the same speeding problem here. Traffic moves so slow a granny on a walker averages a faster speed than cars on the old island highway.

^It is native land I believe? The can only build on existing footprints, can not build new... or that's what the crazy lady on VV's Facebook page is chanting. Oh and traffic. Oh and birds....
Doesn't show up as FN land on the federal FN map: http://fnpim-cippn.a.../index-eng.html

Still, is there ever a wrong place for smiley-frowny signs?

This is a good spot for a redevelopment. Looks like they will do so shoreline restoration too. My only complaint would be the sameness. It would be nice to mix the massing.
