Hudson crane moved to service second phase of project

The Hudson’s construction crane, towering over the department store renovation since 2008, is coming down.

It won’t be going far, however, as construction on the second phase of the Hudson Place development, dubbed The Hudson Mews, moves into full swing along Fisgard Street.

The Hudson Mews, developed by TL Housing Solutions, will be a mixed-use, subsidized rental and market housing development located immediately to the east of The Hudson.  The project is part of the province’s plan to help ease the strain of high housing costs in the region.

Meanwhile the developer of The Hudson, Townline Properties of Vancouver, will concentrate on the finishing touches of the exterior of the building and work will continue throughout the summer on the interior.

A real-estate sales centre for both The Hudson and The Hudson Mews will be moving from its current location at Fisgard and Blanshard streets to the northwest corner of The Hudson at Douglas and Herald.

Future phases of Hudson Place include two residential towers of up to 24-storeys in height.

I doubt it considering Holden's thoughts/musings were posted in 2009 :)

This could be legit considering this is the first time we've actually been exposed to an actual operator, not just the "more info coming soon" promises we've heard over the years from Townline.

Quote: Well, for whatever it's worth, the other "rumoured" tenants discussed on VV eventually came to fruition. Thrifty Foods is owned by Sobey's which has a variety of different grocery store chains under its command so I wouldn't be surprised if it turned out that a more urban/upscale brand is eyed for the space.

In any case, this is great news for downtown!

And Sobey's has a number of "Urban Fresh" stores in downtown Toronto...

So hope a prime retail location does not become a farmers market...

Walked by there the other day and a worker said the opening was delayed until February. Maybe they put on a last minute rush!
