I noticed things are coming along nicely, foundations have started on two sides.

I believe the first phase is sold out.

By the way, for those who haven't seen the photos yet, here is some of the artists renderings and models of the Aria.

Very Very Very stunning.

And to think this could have been one of our landmark buildings at 19-storeys and 14-storeys, but the red tape in this town cut down the architectural elements and unfortunately the height. And just FYI, his buildings will sit beside a six towers between 20 and 16-storeys.

Then these same people will complain that the unit prices are too expensive......Hmmm maybe if they actually utilized this piece of prime real estate, the developer could off set the huge real estate price by dividing it over more units.

And of course don't forget the cost to the developer in redesigning three proposals as the building go short and shorter, in the end gets passed on to you and me too.

Went by the lot today and they have done a fair bit of work. They look as is they are about to pour the main basement floor. I seem to remember them saying that there was at least 2 spots per resident but they only wnt down one one maybe two levels so that does not seem like much. I expect Aria to be above ground level before Christmas. Also I was looking at the renderings and the first building of these two to be completed is pretty much a normal building. The second one reminds me of the View and Vancouver building. When you think of them as two buildings they don't seem so fat.

TWO parking spots per resident or per unit?? Even per unit.. isn't that a bit much? I'd go for about 1.2 per resident and make em buy an extra spot if they want. This isn't a suburban development...

But I guess the city mandates such things like min parking spots rather than letting the market decide right?

In cases like this I'm such a market capitalist. If you can make a building with only .5 spots per unit and sell it has a 'pedestrian' focused downtown housing project, more power to you. Or replace a lot of the parking space with some little bike storage areas.

My building has .6 and that is the lowest of any Victoria zoning.
