The Skyline is a 62-unit, 6-storey woodframe construction building to be located at 924-928 Esquimalt Rd. and 912-914 Carlton Terrace in Esquimalt. I believe that currently on the property there are a number of boarded up homes.

A previous application for the property from 2008 by the same team was for a 4-storey building. Since the building code changed to allow 6-storey woodframe construction, the proponents altered their plans.

Approval was received in early 2010.

The developer's website is at: http://www.kangandgill.com/

View more details on The Skyline on the Major Construction Projects list.

I think that would be good. The current corner is not much to look at. As long as the residents don't mind the nightclub next door.
"Beaver, ahoy!""The bridge is like a magnet, attracting both pedestrians and over 30,000 vehicles daily who enjoy the views of Victoria's harbour. The skyline may change, but "Big Blue" as some call it, will always be there."

Yes, there was one or two drug-houses on that street. Even the Google Street-View car didn't dare go up it... ;)

Neat! Leave it to Esquimalt to propose the city's first six storey wood-framed building. :D

I think units facing to the south and east will have decent views of the Victoria skyline from the rise on which this project will be situated. Perhaps that's what the name refers to?

Agreed. This route is my commute. It is quite a view, even from street level at Head Street, especially when a couple of cruise ships are at Ogden point.

I guess the name is more suitable then I originally thought.

The development's ad in REV Weekly states that 2 bedroom suites will start at $250k, this project definitely seems to be on the 'affordable' side.

This week an excavator has begun to clear this site.
I saw a rubber tire mat as well.
Considering all the rock at surface here, there will be a fair bit of blasting required.

Much of the site has now been excavated. I can't say for sure how much more excavation there is to go but it looks like a lot has happened since I last passed by.

This week I've seen that the concrete for the underground parkade is complete and construction of the walls has started.
The wall sections, studs and exterior sheathing, arrive pre-built on a flat deck truck then lifted into place.
Recall that this building is 6 floors wood framed.
