Tip: If you click on the "i" icon and select "Identify (look in all layers)" you can pull up more information on any particular property.
GIS Map Service (District of Saanich) -> http://www.saanich.c.../gis/index.html
Tip: Very sophisticated map system with multiple layers. The engineer layer is very useful for locating sewer/storm/water pipes in relation to your property.
I will be adding many more links in the following weeks to a variety of useful maps.

I've used both of these sites and really like the CRD Atlas as it clearly shows property outlines. I've also used it to discover hidden pathways and rights of way around Mt Tolmie and North Oak Bay area.
I've never drilled down to see if it gives the zoning on a particular property but that would be nice to see as well.
I used the GIS map recently as well and found it very helpful.

For zoning I typically use the municipality specific maps such as the City of Victorian one - http://www.victoria....zoningatlas.pdf

Anyway, despite being silverlight and a bit buggy at times, the site actually works pretty well at displaying what most users will want.
I like opencyclemap.org tiles for local trails - CRD doesn't include trails other than the goose on their viewer.

I agree with Bernard. CRD's switch to the silverlight service brought anguish to map-lover's throughout the region. Saanich's GIS service is still fantastic though and has the most detailed topographic maps you'd ever want (1 meter contours)!
fine for when I need to deal with Saanich, but I need often deal with other municipalities
