Falcon quit this morning.

This is gong to be the least-anticipated election in 20 years.

Welcome NDP, I guess. At least the Liberals are not even going to give you the satisfaction of even the pretense of a fight.

A bit like the Socreds in the election when Rita Johnson was the erstwhile premier. All the old guard headed for the hills, and the party was wiped out.

I feel badly for the entourage of Falcon political wannabees who thought that they were going to ride his coattails into juicy OIC appointments.

It is no suprise that people who feel that they are unlikely to win next spring are jumping ship, Jimmy P. has only so many open positions though!

I feel your pain Bernard but that is hardly consolation! The big issue for the Liberals is that there is no base now to build from. As long as Ms. Clark hangs on it will mean dark days and then likely a few years until they can start the process again.

I'm surprised people are predicting an NDP win. Doesn't BC have a long history of discontent with the ruling party right up until election day, at which the ruling party is re-elected? There were only a few exceptions to that rule.

I think that you have it backwards. BC has a long history of voting against parties and not for them. NDP in-fighting cost them the last two elections and the hated of the Clark NDP was what brought the Liberals to power before that. Now that the NDP has a credible leader, there it someone for the Liberal haters to vote for!

If I'm reading this correctly, there's a suggestion afoot that the rats are simply jumping ship intime to swim to another one - the BC Conservative Party..

The Conservative leadership and some of its members are a little too "tea partyish" for me.

NDP way too socialist and beholden to unions, so where do I go?

A moderate secular conservative party would be good, a revived fiscally conservative liberal party would do, but honestly for the first time in thirty years I don't know who I am going to vote for.

This all seems strangely familiar to the self-destruction of the Socreds back in 1991, from which was "re-born" the BC Liberal party of today. If history repeats itself (and it often does) we're likely going to see the remnants of the likely-to-be defeated Liberals transforming themselves into the new BC Conservatives with the hope of defeating the NDP government in 2017. Only in BC could a party that calls itself liberal and another called conservative really be one-in-the same. :squint:

Given the appearance of total collapse on the part of Clark's government, is there any chance we will go the polls early or will she continue as a lame-duck until May? The longer she stays the more time the Conservatives have to get organized. I wonder who she would rather hurt more, the NDP or the Conservatives?
