"A 118-year-old building on Pandora Avenue that once housed a traditional Chinese medicine establishment will be torn down and replaced by a rock-climbing gym.
Partners Ken Cronin and Nikolai Galadza bought the two-storey pink structure, which appears in rough shape, for $1.14 million on July 26 from Dr. Wally Mui and his wife. Built in 1895, the building does not have heritage designation, and the new owners may apply for a demolition permit within the next six weeks, although it may be combined with a building permit."

Looks like it's this building, between the Downtown Community Centre and WIN:

This is fairly exciting news for us climber types.

I'll be impressed if they can build something with as much space as the current location in that tight spot on Pandora. But I guess the plan is for a new build, so I guess they'll be flexing their creativity.

Don't pass by it often but haven't noticed anything going on from the outside.
The article doesn't make it entirely clear as to whether they are expanding and keeping the existing location, or moving and shutting the rock bay location down - anyone know the situation?

Relocating to this new site.
Demo permit is approved, building plans not approved yet.

From the Crag X blog:
After a long time and a lot of work we are finally able to announce the start of our move to Pandora Street!
At 11am on December 12, 2014 we signed the construction contract for our new building. Work at the site should begin this week and we expect to be open for climbing early summer 2015.
We will be updating you on our progress as we go on this blog, so check back for posts, photos and more.
The climbing community in Victoria is great, and we can't wait to have you all climbing in our new gym. Drew can't wait either!
Thanks for all of your support over the last twenty years,
Nikolai and Kenneth

No pictures to post, but this site has had the foundation walls installed, lots of styrofoam blocks placed to bring it up to grade, and looks like they should be ready to have the floor poured next week.
Anyone want to take a photo from the top of the Johnson Parkade?
