Can anyone suggest a few option for restaurants offering Christmas dinner this year?
I'm looking for something casually elegant and reasonably priced.
Many thanks!

When our family/extended family got too large to be hosted under one roof we went to the buffet at the Marriott downtown for a couple of years; I would describe it as 'casually elegant' for sure, but be forewarned it is very popular and would need to be booked anytime now I would imagine.

Thank you! I just called the Marriott downtown and it seems that they will be doing Christmas dinner this year. Great option!

Most major hotels offer it Empress, Grand Pacific Oak Bay but if your looking for cheap the metaphoric equivelant is asking where to buy cheap roses at Valentines day
Thanks! Yes, cheap and elegant is impossible, but hopefully there is something for under $100 per person. I'm sure Christmas dinner at The Empress is spectacular, but at $165 per person, it's more than we wish to spend this year. The Grand Pacific Oak Bay is worth a check. Much appreciated.

Its been 2 years since we did the Marriott but as I recall it was $75/p-person which was quite reasonable given the quality and quantity of the food presentation.

Well, we went to Nautical Nellies last year and skipped the traditional turkey dinner special. They had their full regular menu so we had a Miso Glazed Sable Fish and Salmon Wellington with their to-die for white chocolate and blueberry strudel dessert. With wine and beer, tax and tip, we're out the door for about $114. Great meal. Just get there early - we were eating at 4:45PM but lots of people tried to walk-in and were turned away. As so few places are open downtown, don't expect to get in without a reservation.

I've done that dinner and it is very festive especially if the Garden's gets a dusting of snow. Under those conditions it has a very "Traditional Christmas" vibe which is rare in a city that sprouts palm trees and where winter temperatures are usually anything but. That said the B-G Christmas option is also uber popular and I suspect if you haven't already booked it you are out of luck. Never hurts to call though.

I think at X-mas is the only time of year people feel obligated to go. I don't know, lots of times it just seems awkward.
In my experience most work-related holiday gatherings are pretty awkward as well, particularly depending on the level of intoxicants that are consumed.

White Spot at the Victoria airport opens Christmas day at 8 pm. If that's too late for you, Spinnakers at the airport opens at 4:30 am but it's on the post-security side.
