This is way better than the previous proposal which was like sub-langford style architecture.  I used to live around there and my folks still do, I remember when they moved the big herritage house off that lot to build something new.  I never felt more like becoming a NIMBY and speaking out at a meeting than I did when I saw the absolutely uninspired design proposed, but then nothing happened for a few years.  This design actually retains the low setbacks that the herritage house had and celebrates the corner rather than trying to hide the whole building behind landscaping. It reminds me of the condos on Vancouver and Burdett.

Is it the same architect?

The rendering is fantastic. The materials will need to be top notch, from the look of it. I like that roof line. Folks who own the corner condos have a fantastic great room with those windows!

Pricing from mid 300's. That about right for Oak Bay? I guess a 2 bedroom goes from 600.

It's not exactly OB, bit of a hike to get to Foul Bay. That section of OB Ave. is, shall we say, a less than charming streetscape. That said, the renderings do have a downtown, big-city feel. Hopefully it can lead to other similar projects to replace the stucco boxes lining OB Avenue.

I think there was a large gathering at the Abstract Sales Centre (near Fort / Foul Bay) last week... perhaps we will be seeing more marketing for this project soon.

Yes that was the event celebrating their development gallery at 1969 Oak Bay Ave.

Neighbourhood resurgence on West Oak Bay Avenue
Carla Wilson / Times Colonist

*snip*

Victoria’s Abstract Developments is bringing new residents to the area.

The company recently completed its Village Walk condominium project, with ground-floor commercial space, at the corner of Oak Bay Avenue and Foul Bay Road. Next on its agenda is the 22-unit condo project the Maddison, at the corner of Oak Bay Avenue and Richmond Road.

Elizabeth Cull, owner of Dig This across the street from Village Walk, credits that development with increasing pedestrians.

She joined the Oak Bay Business Improvement Association to promote the area. “I’m very excited about the possibility now of the other part of Oak Bay Avenue going through a bit of a rejuvenation. There’s always new businesses coming and going on Oak Bay Avenue. It’s not like it’s static anymore.”

Once upon a time there was a little house being constructed at Richmond and Oak Bay Avenue... and then it disappeared.

...then it reappeared here in Cadboro Bay...

Today it is here on Shelbourne Street...but...will it return to its birthplace?

I think Abstract has these showrooms at all of their projects. One is still positioned on Rockland for Emerson.
