Did we know that the guy behind Sunfest is former NHLer and Vancouver Canucks Greg Adams? Did we know that Sunfest is moving from the Duncan Exhibition to a private property owned by Adams called Laketown Ranch Music and Recreation Park? Did we know that Adams is building a pretty amazing looking permanent amphitheatre at the new location?

Pretty cool!

Over 250 traffic-related police files/infractions were generated over the long weekend at a sting setup near SunFest, police say. 26 for sobriety. 226 various violations, 3 prohibited drivers.

From the BCHP:

Over the BC Day long weekend, multiple units from BC Highway Patrol Vancouver Island and BCHP’s Integrated Impaired Driving Unit (IIDU) partnered with Lake Cowichan RCMP to target road safety issues created by an influx of traffic in the Lake Cowichan area from the SunFest Music Festival, long weekend camping and drivers using the alternate route to bypass the Highway 4 road closures.

During the weekend, a total of 26 impaired drivers and 3 prohibited drivers were removed from local roadways. In addition, a total of 226 violation tickets were issued for a variety of Motor Vehicle Act offences.

Staff Sergeant Adam Tallboy, Acting OIC of BCHP Vancouver Island stated, “While 26 impaired drivers are a concerning number, given the large number of drivers who were screened for impairment by BCHP and Lake Cowichan officers it shows that the majority of drivers are making safe choices. I especially want to thank all those designated drivers who assisted getting their friends and family home safely.”

Know it all.

Most drivers are not drunk. That’s good.

Some detail on the other 226 would be interesting.
