What’s interesting is Helps is now trailing her former result while Geoghegan and and McGuigan picked up support. Hammond is way, way ahead.

Interesting how the VV facebook poll between Mike and Steve showed it almost 50/50 with mike a little ahead,  but this one shows Steve as the huge VV favourite.

I think there is little doubt that the VV Facebook poll was "augmented" by non-CoV voters to favour MG.

That's why the two-way polls are pretty useless. In addition to what Nparker just noted, a lot of Helps voters also voted for Mike G in that poll because they recognize that Hammond is the biggest threat to Helps' reelection.

Yes, very good point. Facebook's only two options is a pretty lame way of 'polling.'

Come on.  And a VV thread is so much better?  You don't think there is a higher degree of selection bias on here than facebook? Or you think only VV members who actually live in the CoV have voted?  I doubt it

it's likely harder to round up out-of-greater victoria votes here with registration and all.

The votes here are guaranteed to be 95% local, or whatever. There were votes from across the country in the Facebook poll.

I don’t trust big mike. Can’t put my finger on what it is, just really don’t like the cut of his jib

I can't speak for his jib, but I get the sense he'd be a terribly confrontational mayor.

Yeah, we need someone who can hopefully bring people together. It's been 4 years of Trump style divisiveness with Helps. I believe Hammond is our best hope.

double edged sword.  Listen to homeowners - good.  Neighborhood associations blocking developments - bad.

I had a young kid from the Helps campaign come to my door,  very politely told them more or less what I think of her and kept it as short and kind as possible.  So far that's my only interaction with any campaign.  You'd think living right in the heart of the densest neighbourhood in the city I'd see a few more door knockers?  My apartment barely has a lobby, it's just 5 individual doorbells so we're really accessible.

Way back in the day when I was living with my folks in Rockland we'd get 3-4 of the actual candidates come to the door each election.  Is this just a case of politicians knowing that the home owning vote is much more valuable and dependable than renters?

It'd be neat to see a poll for the council race too. Can you limit the choices to eight?
