I only become aware of this group today.    They are holding their founding assembly on April 27th  but it seems like they have been already active for a year or two.

This is an invitation to individuals who are members of one of the coalition partners of Greater Victoria Acting Together (GVAT).

Join us as we celebrate our diverse coalition and announces ourselves as a political power for the common good in Greater Victoria!

Individuals from non member organizations can e-mail their request to attend as guests to Greg (Click here!). GVAT is a coalition of organizations not of individuals, so please let us know what organization you are a part of that you think could be a part of GVAT!

This is a members event so priority will go to members, but we encourage interest from the broader community and will try to include you in this day.

The members are:

Congregation Emanu-el  •  Saint Vincent de Paul Society  •  Shambhala Meditation Centre  •  First Unitarian Church of Victoria  •  BC Government and Service Employee’s Union  •  Camosun College Student Society  •  Sierra Club BC  •  UVIC Graduate Students' Society  •  Fairfield United Church  •  Our Place Society  •  Cool Aid Society  •  Anawim Companion Society  •  AIDS Vancouver Island  •  Greater Victoria Teachers Association  •  Cadboro Bay United Church  •  St. John the Divine Anglican Church  •  St Patrick’s Parish Church  •  Sisters of St. Ann  •  Holy Cross Catholic Church  •  Hospital Employees Union  •  Unite Here 40  •  Mustard Seed  •  Society of Friends of St. Ann's Academy  •  Threshold Housing Society  •  IBEW 230  •  Church of Truth, Community of Conscious Living  •  Destination Greater Victoria  •  Generation Squeeze

I am not sure how comfortable I am with so many religious entities coalescing for "political power". I am a firm believer in a separation of church and state.

It's just more of the same.  Left wing churches and left wing non profits joining forces to get more money for the poverty/addiction industry

Catholic Churches and organizations are key players in helping those facing poverty, for sure. Sometimes belonging to a group of odd fellows like this important to stay in the loop.

Sierra Club is odd among them, though, as is Tourism Vic.
