Any idea about potential candidates on the South Island in either this year or next year's general election? Here are some of my thoughts:
Esquimalt-Metchosin
Incumbent Mitzi Dean (NDP) is very likely running again
BC Liberal: Probably not Barb Desjardins again. Maybe someone from Colwood or Metchosin?
Green: ?
NDP: Mitzi Dean
Langford-Juan de Fuca
Incumbent John Horgan (NDP) is running again
BC Liberal: ? (Could this finally be Stew Young's time to risk it, maybe in anticipation of this potentially being Horgan's last term, therefore opening up 2025 for him)
Green: ?
NDP: John Horgan
Oak Bay-Gordon Head
Incumbent Andrew Weaver (Independent, former Green) retiring.
BC Liberal: Roxanne Helme (Nominated)
Green: ?
NDP: ? (Marianne Alto?)
Saanich North-Islands
Incumbent Adam Olsen (Green) is running again
BC Liberal: Stephen Roberts again? I know he's still president of the riding assocation. I could also see a current or former municipal politician, such as Carl Jensen or Steve Price, going for it
Green: Adam Olsen
NDP: Gary Holman has maintained his community presence, but may be heading towards retirement. Maybe Central Saanich councillor Zeb King? (known NDPer)
Saanich South
Incumbent Lana Popham (NDP) is running again
BC Liberal: David Calder again?
Green: ?
NDP: Lana Popham
Victoria-Beacon Hill
Incumbent Carole James (NDP) retiring
BC Liberal: ?
Green: ? (Maybe Kalen Harris again? Racelle Kooy? Or even Lisa Helps?)
NDP: ?
Could Ben Isitt take a run here? For the NDP (his traditional home, but now seems quite unlikely)? The Greens? Maybe even the nascent Eco-Socialists?)
Victoria-Swan Lake
Incumbent Rob Fleming (NDP) presumed to be running again
BC Liberal: ?
Green: ? (Or maybe Racelle Kooy here? Not sure where she lives)
NDP: Presumed to be Rob Fleming?
