A 12-storey tower has been proposed for high Quadra, on Quadra Street at Nicholson Street.

Saanich's development info has very, very limited information, and the local neighbourhood association has no information, either.

This seems really out of place for the neighbourhood.

Why is it out of place there, compared the the more then half dozen apartment buildings that have been there 50 years just south-east?

I mean, it's on a major, busy street, why not?

Because it's 3 times as tall and there is nothing even remotely this size nearby. It would make much more sense near McKenzie and Quadra.

There is an 8-storey building right under where is says "Quadra Woods".  With the red roof.

What or who would a 12-storey building affect here, what are the obvious negatives?  Other than "it's tall"?

So?

Well, you said it was 3x taller.  And it's only actually 50% taller than that one building close by.

Mea culpa. I meant McKenize & Quadra. And even there it would still be a turd of a building.

I wonder if they’ll finally put a light there then. That left turn from Saanich onto Quadra northbound is scary sometimes.

All of Quadra should be fair game for development like this, IMO, especially closer to those major intersections. This seems a little tall but not outrageously so.

Lol if the Quadra McKenzie corridor study is considered a zoning document, this might not need a public hearing because these lots are designated as up to 12 stories just inside the boundary of the center (mid-rise) area

That makes sense to me I guess. Not sure what the process is for that study. If it’s part of the OCP. I’m sure it’ll be a factor in the decision
