...Once they can tell the gender of the new chicks...they immediately grind (like in a tree chipper) the males ones alive. The brown slop that was left over after, they fed to minks on a mink farm...
OK - that is pretty horrible.....
Makes you almost want to stop wearing your mink stoles to swanky Rockland cocktail parties.

The rooster ban seems to go against our national leader's gender rules.
Actually I saw a decent documentary on the chicken industry. Once they can tell the gender of the new chicks (I think a few days after hatching), they immediately grind (like in a tree chipper) the males ones alive. The brown slop that was left over after, they fed to minks on a mink farm.
Oh ya, here is a similar video.
Geez, thanks for sharing.

Soon to be calledIs grandfather considered an animal?
When they say no grandfathering, maybe she will arrange a public execution of her over-limit animals. That would cause some publicity.

Since the number of poultry must be consistent with use for personal egg consumption, and the owner of 1322 Rockland seems to think giving the eggs to her tenants counts as personal egg consumption - the same logic would allow any of us to keep hundreds of hens, ducks or geese on a property and give the eggs to the homeless (or whomever).
Wow. What a loophole to piss off your neighbors! Is Victoria going to allow this?

Personal egg consumption the City has decided warrants a maximum of 12 per family. 100 does not seem that bad for 45 people.

Hold on. She has 45 people living on her 2.2 acre property.

But these people aren't her family. She doesn't even live there. It's her business. Thus, it is not for personal consumption - it's a business purpose. The people pay rent for those eggs. I am quite certain that the hens are NOT the property of the tenants.......

I'm sure she could assign the hens to individuals tenants for rent. Pets and farm animals can be bought, sold, leased.

Regardless, I still think the adversarial model is the best way to work out development controversies. Everything should be framed as good versus evil, and there should be no compromises and no cooperation. That way the process is guaranteed to be extremely slow and expensive and the end result is all the more likely to be very frustrating and disappointing for everyone.
Actually, you know what? When I put it that way, the familiar formula doesn't sound quite so fantastic after all.

See?! This is the type of thing that will happen!
"Wegener pulled up to (the) house on the golf cart. They began to hang out. Wegener said he was going to kill the chickens in (the) yard. Wegener went to his golf cart and retrieved a Canadian Mist bottle filled with black powder, sand and a green fuse," according to the affidavit.
Investigators said Wegener lit the fuse and threw the IED into the backyard, where it exploded.

We had 100 or so chickens on our property for about 10 years. The coup and pen were about 80 feet from the house. There were no rats. There was no smell that was terrible.
I kind of enjoyed their company.

There are 150 chickens on the property now.
Ok, that's illegal unless they got quota too.

How is it known that the residents even want eggs? Many vegetarians don't eat eggs, vegans don't eat eggs, people with allergies, like my husband, don't eat eggs. That is just way too many eggs!

For sure. Having all of those eggs in one place makes me a bit uneasy.

Penochet's coup? That must have been scary.

Even worse if that place is a basket.
