Looking at YVR’s parking rates even the furthest lot from the airport, located at Templeton station, is $96 per week.

The next closest lot is $112.50 with a shuttle ride, and the one comparable to the distance you are from YYJ’s parking is between $30 and $50 daily with no weekly parking.

Here are the deets: http://www.yvr.ca/en...arking/park-yvr

Both jetSet and Long Term at YVR offer significant discounts if you book parking online. For long term it's $75/week and jetSet is $85/week. That's where vortoozo is pulling the YVR number from.

You can also park at YVR South Terminal for $10.50/day ($72.50/week) and ride the free shuttle to the main terminal if you don't mind the 10-15 minute shuttle transfer time.

^ Correct. The $75 is YVR's Value Long term lot online pricing.

I am surprised we don't have some sort of YYJ park & ride. I wonder if this would be allowed on ALR land?

Stop the surprise - we do.

Ok, I see now that you can pre-book online and save some cash, that’s pretty good!

That YYJ park and ride has all options beat though. $60 for the first week, $40 thereafter. I had no idea there was such a service.

Know it all.

We have parked long term at the best western in Sidney before, when staying the night before an early flight. Don’t know what the rate was like, but it must have been okay since we left the car there and took a cab to the airport. Plus that great sushi restaurant around corner makes it attractive! :)

The reason that you had no idea that there was such a service is because it doesn't exist.

If it did exist then Victoria Park and Ride would hold a business licence with the District of Central Saanich AND IT DOES NOT.

If it did exist then there would be an application to the Agricultural Land Commission to ask permission to operate a business other than agricultural. AND IT HAS NOT APPLIED.

So here we have a 24 hour non agricultural operation located within the ALR and a business that the Central Saanich Bylaw office has confirmed that no business licence for 8165 Derrinberg Road has been issued ...being advertised as a going concern.

Maybe Woodwynn Farm should have gone into the parking business instead of the helping people business.

So basically with Victoria Park and Ride, you are paying cash in advance and leaving your keys with people that do not have a business license, do not have insurance, and are clearly not paying taxes. And they do this all under the guise of "we are doing this only for our 'friends'".

And how is this different than Woodwyn letting their "friends" park on their farm?

And this non-business is being run by the same folks responsible for lots of other folks losing lots of money in the financial mess that was the OBBH. But they still have the family farm and a Rolls Royce!

Second busiest month ever at YYJ in the last 3 years almost beating the last record by just under 900 passengers

Total Passengers July 2018 199,161 up 10.8% over July 2017

On course to break 2 million Pax per Year which will put them into a tier 1 airport meaning some services like Policing will return to the airport after a 3 year absent, costs tho are passed onto the local airport. AIF going up?

Policing, as in a constant presence of officer(s) at the terminal or an actual RCMP desk based out of the airport?

ok, did you ask for a business license for the guy who mows your lawn or oh say painted your house last year?  you also made sure the house painter was from a fully licensed, insured company, etc for 12k vs the guy who will do it for 6k cash.  come on....

and that farm stand you stop by and grab a dozen eggs from, did you make sure they have a business license?

as for airport park and go, or even the Robbins lot, have you read the agreements, they aren't responsible for anything so why would they have insurance in the first place.

you also reported that house down the street with the illegal basement suite both to the municipality for a bylaw infraction and to the CRA for likely unreported income

its all around us.  Who cared about a few people parking some cars in a field

It's always interesting to see how people view white collar and blue collar crime differently. What exactly is the difference between a homeless person stealing a $500 bike versus someone robbing taxpayers of due income via unreported income?

As for insurance, it's generally more to protect the business than their clients. Robbins has insurance on each property they run. Saves them a lot of heartache if someone gets injured on one of their lots.
