If anyone is looking for a "cheap" (relative) way to fly YYJ-YVR over the summer, I took the short hop over on Air North on Monday for only $117. Granted, the schedule doesn't work for everyone (Mondays only?), but compared to WS/AC who wanted $250+ it was an easy decision. Also, Air North doesn't seem to raise their fare prices as you get closer to departure (unlike WS/AC), so it was perfect for a last minute booking. Here's what they were asking ~2 hrs prior to the flight.

Make yourself feel like you are jetting away far far away.....just to land a few minutes later ;) good price. Nice staff and cookies I hear!

Huh? There's pretty much unlimited connection options if you take the redeye.

If you don't mind travelling overnight for what used to be a same day trip.

I guess that's a matter of preferance. Getting up at 3am for the 6am flight was also pretty undesirable.

No AC Rouge Boeing 767 this summer, taken off the timetable and replaced with a much smaller Rouge A320 mid day flight but keeping the A321 for the red eye. ...

I think the 767-300 is operating for a few weeks in June, I’m booked on it in the middle of the month. But certainly a shorter period than previous years. I figure this has more to do with the MAX grounding and fleet constraints, with Rouge subbing on some mainline routes like YYC-YYZ with the 767.

Right, thank makes sense. The Max issue has thrown a kink into everyone’s fleets.

Delta seems to be struggling with their YYJ operation today.

The scheduled 2:01pm departure to Seattle has been delayed until 8:30am tomorrow.

Separately, the flight scheduled to arrive tonight at 11:48pm is now expected to arrive at 7:56am tomorrow.

Montreal-based Bombardier Inc. has signed a deal to sell its CRJ regional jet program to Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd.

Under the deal, Mitsubishi will pay $550 million US in cash and assume about $200 million worth of debt and other liabilities related to the CRJ — an acronym for the Canadair Regional Jet.

Extension of the taxiway. Some photos and plans on the YYJ website here

In other news, WestJet is launching direct flights from YYJ to SJD (San Jose del Cabo, MX) starting this winter. As reported by CTV VI.

The body of a man believed to have been a stowaway who fell from the undercarriage of a jet approaching London's Heathrow Airport has been found in a garden in the city's south end, police said Monday.

The man fell from the landing gear of a Kenya Airways plane as it approached London after a nine-hour flight from Nairobi, according to police and airline officials.

Metropolitan police said the body of an unidentified man was found in a residential garden in the city's Clapham district on Sunday.

The man has not yet been identified. Police said a post-mortem would be held to determine the cause of death.

cause of death is probably not cancer.

Canada Jetlines has re-branded. Interesting look for sure...a bit of a combo of Norwegian and EasyJet.

168 days until they're supposed to be in the air.

That tag line though

But I will say that the Jetlines rebrand is much better than the Flair rebrand

That is an ambitious tagline, to be sure.  I would love, love, love for Canada Jetlines to prove it out starting with legroom and baggage allowance.  Good luck to them.

Flair looks like a grocery store house-brand.

I believe their entire strategy is based on less legroom and baggage allowance than others.

It depends on your definition of suck, I guess.

“We are currently dealing with a security breach. Our departure lounge has had to be evacuated and all passengers will be re-screened. This will cause minor delays to a few flights. Please check w/ your airline or our website for latest flight information.”
