It was three times daily, the 0650am flight has been axed and in Jan 2020 the 1135am flight shows on the timetable that it ends.

Possibly, however I've flown that route roughly once a year on AC and cannot recall a third flight ever being available in the past few years. Maybe something seasonal, or a change in times.

The online pdf timetable is notoriously unreliable. For instance it noted a Victoria - Edmonton flight all summer which never operated. The 11:35am flight is still available for booking through next year.

This past summer they operated a 0650 departure, Q400 service and then a YVR departure at 0710. That is true, the timetable can be with many starts and stops and exceptions etc. Hope there still is a YEG-YYJ routing as oil gas season ramps up.

Something’s up:

Jetlines Commences Legal Proceedings Against westJet Co-Founder David Neeleman and Affiliates

^They're not suing WestJet. They've just put WestJet in the title of their release to try to win some more sympathy points that big, bad WestJet ruined their company. Filled in Connecticut because that's where David Neeleman and his two companies are based.

Another desperate Hail Mary by Jetlines.

The BC Coroners Service and RCMP have confirmed multiple fatalities after a small plane crashed on Gabriola Island, located off the east coast of Vancouver Island.

According to a written statement issued by the coroner, the plane crashed on the northwest corner of the island. Gabriola RCMP members confirmed fatalities at the scene.

The B.C. Ambulance Service said it responded to the call at around 6:10 p.m. PT on Tuesday. The island's ambulance and community paramedic car responded, along with four to five other ambulances that were transported there via ferry.

The crash site will be cordoned off by RCMP until the Transportation Safety Board arrives at the scene to investigate.

The BC Coroners Service wrote it is now in the preliminary stages of its investigation to determine "who died, and how, where, when and by what means the deceased came to their sudden, unexpected deaths."

No information is available about the size or make of the plane. Conditions at the time of the crash were foggy.

In an e-mail to the News Bulletin, Andy Watson, communications manager with the B.C. Coroners Service, declined to confirm whether one of the victims onboard was Alex Bahlsen, who, according to various media reports was a pilot and former employee with the TSB. The Bomber Command Museum of Canada, in a Facebook post, said it is “remembering Alex Bahlsen today” after partnering with him to host flying events in the past.

Dan Clarke is leading the TSB’s investigation.

'An amazing pilot and flight instructor': Friends remember aviator who died in Gabriola Island crash

https://www.cbc.ca/n...hlsen-1.5392599

The pilot of the plane that crashed on Gabriola Island on Tuesday night has been identified by friends as Alex Bahlsen, an experienced aviator with his own flight school.

Bahlsen, 61, was headed back to Canada from Mexico when the Piper Aerostar he was flying crashed on the island, just east of Nanaimo, B.C.

"He was just a nice guy, to everybody. Very generous. He was a rich man but he never bragged about it or anything," said Naef.

He said Bahlsen is the grandson of Hermann Bahlsen, the founder of a German baked-goods empire famous for its Leibniz brand of biscuits.

Swoop is adding Victoria-Winnipeg with 5x a week service as part of its summer 2020 schedule. No dates have been included in the release other than an April start.

Expanding!? But I thought Swoop was done now that it accomplished its only goal of killing Jetlines...

Start date is April 27, FYI.

Yeah, who knows. As you said yourself, it still has to give off an appearance that it wasn't a hit job.

Jetlines is still kicking. Down and with barely a pulse, but still kicking. Swoop throwing in the towel would re-open the ULCC market opportunity, would it not?

If there is a ULCC market, Swoop should just stay and monopolize it.

Absolutely there is, but so long as the primary ULCC carrier is merely an arm of a one of the players in Canada's airline duopoly it will never offer true ULCC pricing.

I guess that's the optimistic way to look at it. But most of us aviation enthusiasts don't really see Jetlines in any different space than they have been since it was founded over 6 years ago...on the ground with a lot of talk and zero sign of taking off.

I also don't expect we will ever see European-style ULCC pricing in Canada, regardless of which new entrants emerge. Our fee structure simply won't allow it. Getting a one-way ticket for you and your personal bag from Abbotsford to Hamilton on Swoop for $79.00 all-in is about as incredible a price as we'll likely ever get.

Anecdotally those flair and swoop prices to Edmonton and Hamilton etc seem to have already gone up substantially since the launched.

Got this from Jetlines:

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA, Canada Jetlines Ltd. (JET: TSX-V; JETMF: OTCQB) (the “Company” or “Jetlines”) announces that it has entered into a letter of intent (the “LOI”) with Global Crossing Airlines (“GLOBALX”) with respect to a business combination of Jetlines and GLOBALX (the “Transaction”). GLOBALX is a developing United States based charter airline and is financially backed by two Miami based private-equity firms.

GLOBALX is a Delaware corporation in the pre-revenue stage with its head office located at Miami International Airport. GLOBALX plans to operate a US 121 charter airline using the Airbus A320-200 aircraft. GLOBALX business model includes the intention to provide ACMI and wet lease contracts to airlines operating within and to the United States and develop aircraft interchange with leading European charter/tour operators GLOBALX is currently in regulatory certification and is led by an operating team with a combined 140 years’ experience – including the former head of maintenance for two major US based A320 LCC carriers, and two retired Principal FAA inspectors with specific experience in the new Safety Management Systems and Quality Assurance.

In addition to the core business of GLOBALX, the combined entity (“Resulting Issuer”) will continue with an operating plan for Canada. This includes continuing to advance the Air Operator Certificate for Jetlines through the continued refinement of the Jetlines operating manuals and maintained in submission ready status. The Resulting Issuer also intends to initially operate charter operations in concert with major tour operators from Canadian cities to major leisure destinations in the United States. It is intended that GLOBALX aircraft will be used to operate these flights – branded as Jetlines, operated by GLOBALX.

Jetlines has determined that the Transaction provides the best opportunity at the present time to maximize value for the Company. The current intra-Canadian airline market is in a state of flux with consolidation ongoing at the major carriers, as well as at least three currently operating or planned market entrants in the Ultra-Low Cost Carrier segment. There is also no certainty regarding when the Canadian Competition Bureau will complete its investigation into WestJet and Swoop, or what the results of that investigation may be. The Transaction provides Jetlines with an opportunity to fly cross border with support from strategic partners who can provide lift, crews, marketing, sales, and capitalization. It also preserves the longer-term opportunity to continue with an intra-Canadian airline operation.

Mr. Mark Morabito commented, “While Jetlines made significant progress in building out a management team, advancing the airline licensing process, establishing systems, securing routes and obtaining financing commitments, ultimately current market conditions necessitated a change in strategy. The GLOBALX plan preserves Jetlines strategy long term and provides a more immediate opportunity to commence airline operations. I am resigning from Jetlines at this time in order to facilitate the GLOBALX transaction and its plans to restructure management.”

The Transaction is subject to the execution of a definitive transaction documents, approval of the TSX Venture Exchange (the “Exchange”), approval of the Jetlines and GLOBALX shareholders and other conditions customary for a transaction of this nature. There can be no assurance that the Transaction will be completed as proposed or at all.

CTV News has learned from a source, however, that something taken from the vehicle is causing a security concern at the airport. It’s not known how serious the concern is or whether it has been remedied, as officials will offer no details on what measures are being taken.

CTV News has reached out multiple times to Glenoak Ford for a comment on the break-in at their property, but has so far received no response.
