Flair starts May 7th.

So YYZ is currently served by AC, Swoop and Flair?
Swoop is a ireg weekly, Flair is the same, a mix of twice weekly and some three times weekly.
AC is the only one holding up Daily service.
Swoop never operated their promised Las Vegas service this fall/winter, came in with lots of fan fair along with their PVR run south.
Feels like every chance at a new start is canned out of YYJ while YLW soars .....

AC goes double daily this summer to YYZ, including a redeye.

WestJet has their vacuum set on Sunwing Vacations after Transat failed.
Sunwing last flew from YYJ nearly 3 years ago now.

Hopefully the Bureau also blocks this.
The Air Transat - Air Canada merger wasn't stopped by any "Bureau", at least in Canada. In fact, they received approval from the Canadian government to close their merger given the precarious position Transat was in given the pandemic. Ultimately, European regulators had signaled it was unlikely to pass antitrust concerns and that's why it died.
Sunwing doesn't provide service to Europe so it's unlikely there would be similar concerns in this case.

Anything substantial actually mentioned so far.. like future upgrades, new airline service.. maybe when they're going to finally open the taxiway?? lol

I suspect Victorians just have to resolve themselves to being a fourth tier airport. Nothing sticks here. It's all YVR-CGY-SEA-YYZ.

Taxi way E extension opened with no mention about 2 weeks ago, most of the talk was how they are getting by on very little money, lots of long term plans, nothing too big short term. A upgraded approach lighting project on the Pat Bay end of the airport. The old 443 hanger is coming down this year, CEO thinks this will be a good year with so many new destinations with all the ULCC airlines flooding the market, and no news on US based airlines besides Alaska having any interest in YYJ. I didn't ask any questions in the chat.
Someone did ask if the recent raise in fees charged to airlines this month would affect business or drive carriers away, he didnt thinks so, sounded like a money hungry VAA.

Its sad that most of Greater Victoria think you can only fly to YVR or YYC and that's it, its' very much a " You can't fly there from here " mentality.
Zero marketing on behalf of the VAA. Bums in seats, ='s AIF $$$.......
VAA = ho-hum...... they will come.....

Kenmore Air returns with 2 flights a day, 7 days a week to Seattle from the harbour on April 1st.

I think you've pointed it out before, but it's ironic to me that there is zero YYJ marketing (billboards, ad campaigns, etc) yet the airport CEOs bio on their website boasts the following:
Geoff has over thirty years' experience in the airline and marine transportation industries with a background in marketing, business development, operations, customer service and finance.
Geoff began his career with Canadian Airlines where he ultimately led the international marketing team in the development and expansion of the Airline’s global network. He returned home to Victoria, BC where he joined BC Ferries as Vice President of Marketing and Business Development where he oversaw all aspects of their commercial operations.
