The A320's appear gone for the summer but I see they still have them in the system for the early fall.

Maybe this is covered elsewhere but I’m at yyj and it’s packed and things are still shutdown
White spot appeared closed
The kitchen at spinnakers isn’t open and the cafe past spinnakers is closed. Huge line for pre made sandwiches etc at spinnakers cause no options.
It’s a Monday morning and it’s packed.
I was here a month ago and same story.
What are they waiting for?

Perhaps it’s a labour issue. The airport is just remote enough that you need to drive there, and if you’re in that industry you can find options closer to home without the ultra early start times.

I guess WestJet decided not to fly the direct Victoria to Winnipeg route this summer. What a shame. It was so handy and was one of the reasons I even flew there last summer.

Don't be so sure.

Transgender advocates across Canada are calling out national airline WestJet for not allowing people to choose X as a gender, instead of male or female, when booking flights.

They say WestJet is violating their human rights.

Traditionally, airlines have used gender to know how heavy a plane will be. More men on a flight meant less excess cargo stowed underneath.

So They picked a gender when getting their boarding pass but then was denied boarding until they picked a gender?! Something doesn't add up.

Upon initially booking a series of WestJet flights last week, Lloyd noticed only male or female options were provided under gender. Lloyd picked one and assumed it could be simple to change at the airport, but quickly found out it would be anything but easy. WestJet staff would not let Lloyd board without using one of those two options

Of all the problems in the world today, this isn't one of them.

For the first time in years Vancouver has daily non-stop flights to New York City's John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK).

The first commercial JetBlue flight to ever land at a Canadian airport is set to arrive at 10:26 p.m. at Vancouver International Airport (YVR,) from JFK. The return flight is set to leave YVR for JFK at 11:30 p.m., so it can arrive at 7:48 a.m. Eastern Time.

While the flight times were partly determined by what slots airports had available, JetBlue's head of marketing and loyalty, Jayne O'Brien, told BIV this morning that she thinks the time slots are excellent.

Question for those who have flown recently as I haven't since covid: back in the old days pre-March 2020 roughly speaking you showed up an ~ hour before your domestic flight.

Tomorrow I have to take Mrs ASE to YYJ for a 6am flight ultimately to Regina, I believe it routes through Calgary on the way. She wants to leave at some ungodly hour (3am was suggested initially, my response to that was......impolite). So *what* are the regs today in terms of how long in advance of a domestic flight you need to show up - is it an hour, two, more, less? Thanks.....

Someone mentioned taking a long time to get through YYJ's line. It depends how many other flights are leaving that AM too. 1 hour is probably too low nowadays :(.

Sure hope Canada follows suit on dropping the poke checks (and mandatory masks) on planes. Liberals just lalala not listening to anyone, including their own health officer Tam.

^ I travelled last month and the #1 delay for a lot of people was the covid test check. Make sure you upload your info to Air Canada / Westjet ahead of time and Arrivecan on the way back. If you don't then you will be standing in line at check in waiting. Otherwise an hour is lots of time if you have a Nexus card!

Canada to lift random COVID-19 tests for international travellers, sources say Starting Saturday, random COVID-19 tests for international travellers will be suspended.

The suspension will remain in effect until June 30, when the current COVID restrictions are set to expire, unless they are renewed by the federal government.

Sources tell CityNews unvaccinated travellers still have to be tested. However, the federal government is also expected to soon announce that beginning July 1 all testing will be moved off site, rather than at the airport.
