For the past ten years, a bunch of engineers and others have been secretly designing and producing a single-seat 1930s styled aircraft powered by their own engine – and result is on show for the first time at EAA Airventure Oshkosh.

https://flyer.co.uk/...ars-of-secrecy/

The aircraft is the SE-1 and it’s from Colorado company Spirit Engineering. What’s more, this isn’t some one-off prototype. No fewer than four SE-1 aircraft flew to Oshkosh from Grand Junction, Colorado and the company has shared photos of its impressive manufacturing base.

A good friend recently told me that in order to have fun you have to share it with someone.

Here is a shot of Mrs. Sparky and I on the Baja a long time ago in our Cessna 150 2 seat aircraft,

Don't buy a one seat plane.

Don't buy a one seat plane.

Until you have been married a long time, then it can become a godsend.

Seattle Times:

Despite rebound, Boeing's 737 loses title as world's most popular plane

Boeing delivered 55 airplanes in September, its highest number for that month since 2018, but its rival Airbus has taken a top title.

Heated talk: Transport Canada irked with North Saanich in airport land tussle

The airport’s lawyer sent a letter to council seeking to clarify Mayor Peter Jones’s comment about setting fire to something at the airport.

Also occurred at YYJ but no word from VAA unlike other airports who have confirmed and commented on this incident

Typical VAA - buttoned up media.

Why don’t airlines sell merch right at the gate? It would be cool if they had items they could customize for your trip. Like a little scale model of your plane that can be customized with an imprint of the date, the destination, your name maybe. They could have shirts and hats too. Other trinkets.

I agree. I like the airplane playing cards the pilots sometimes give out.

Victoria International Airport has logged its busiest quarter ever, with more than 227,000 passengers passing through in August alone – the highest monthly total on record – capping a summer of record-breaking travel through September.

Year-to-date, the airport has welcomed more than 1.51 million passengers which is a 6.5 per cent increase over the same period in 2024, fuelled by robust domestic demand, stable traffic to the U.S.A., and strong international routes, said the airport in a release.

“Breaking the record for the busiest month in our airport’s history is a proud moment for YYJ and the community we serve,” said Elizabeth Brown, president and CEO of the Victoria Airport Authority.

Was perusing the YYJ Master Plan earlier and wondering if someone - Missed Approach perhaps - has any insight into potential terminal (or other) components of those expansion plans? Per the master plan which I realize is now itself a few years old, expected timeline for the eastward expansion of the terminal was originally projected in the 2023-27 timeframe.

As we're now on the cusp of 2026 I wonder if a few more solid quarters like this last one might spur the airport Authority to dust off the plan and being thinking seriously about that particular component of the terminal expansion, or not?
