For some reason this song came into my head...

Perhaps David Foster will be installing that section himself.

I would have said they are going to put a look-out platform on the rock there, but that would not make sense with the polished concrete curb there. Those curbs are quite attractive, by the way. Almost looks like granite.

Have they looked over at the scrap metal yard?

It's almost overkill, but it looks quite nice, close up.
Agreed, but it's still a lot of path for such a small piece of land.

Last time I went by this path was still closed off to the public. I understand that it leads to nothing (for years to come as well with the Northern Junk buildings being a ways from starting construction), but can't they just block off one end and open up the rest?

I think it is to let the grass take hold.

The City should have gone ahead with the bridges in James Bay instead of doing Reeson Park's part of the walkway. They let staff bully them into what they wanted to do.

Maybe I'm ignorant, but I don't feel a strong connection to David Foster. Nor do I understand why the harbour pathway is named after him. He strikes me as a successful musician but not a great role model. These days he lives in an LA "bachelor pad":
- David Foster took DailMailTV inside the Los Angeles apartment where he has been living for the past year
- The legendary music producer has his own recording studio there and it houses his 16 Grammy Awards
- Foster, 67, split from Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Star Yolanda after four years of marriage last January
- He says the pair are 'good' and he is in still in contact with her supermodel daughters Gigi and Bella Hadid

It would have made more sense for us to have the Emily Carr Harbour Pathway, wouldn't it have?

^Emily Carr can't donate money
Other than allowing his name to be used, has Mr. Foster actually donated any funds to the development of the pathway?

Not to take away from Fosters accomplishments ... but I strongly agree with the above line of thinking. As a lifelong resident of the region, and somebody who actually saw Foster play live in the Strathcona Hotel, I feel no connection to him whatsoever.
His visits for local fundraising purposes occur once every few years, and beyond that he really doesn't have any sort of "real" connection here at all.
He sold his condo on the Outer Harbour, which pretty much demonstrates his intent not to set up a home of any kind here.
The Emily Carr Pathway thought Mike proposes above is far more desirable, and way more "feel good" than a David Foster nomenclature attached to one of our regions most stunning visual feasts.

Americans and most Canadians do not know who David Foster is, less know Emily Carr. I do not care what its called. It's a Harbour Pathway, good enough. Vancouver has a "seawall", not too sexy either.

I think the premise might be that Emily Carr has a much deeper and profound connection to the Capital Region than David Foster does ... and thus might deserve more significant local recognition.
Carr built perhaps the major portion of her career while living in Victoria, painting at Mount Doug Park, and out in Metchoisin. She traveled elsewhere, but worked here, always came back here, and in the end died here.
Foster, on the other hand, left Victoria an unknown, to eventually discover fame in the United States. He has never returned to Victoria in any significant way.
But I agree it's not really an issue. Indeed, as VHF posits above, I'd rather see it named Harbour Pathway as opposed to its current David Foster nomenclature.
